Show Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Chadwick, Dr. and Mrs. James Chadwick and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chadwick of American Ameri-can Fork, and Mr. and Mrs. George Wood of Salt Lake, motored to Logan Lo-gan Sunday to visit with Raymond Chadwick who is attending the Utah Agriculture college. They prepared lunch and had a very enjoyable time in Logan canyon. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Yancey received word from their son, Kenneth, that he had left the U. S. fleet on board the U. S. S. Saratoga. His squadron will disembark at Pearl Harbor, Honolulu Hon-olulu for a ten day stay. They will then engage in tactics that will take them into the north Pacific, terminating termi-nating at principal west coast ports. They expect to be back in San Diego by June 10th. The children of Mrs. Emily Foster visited at her home Sunday, the occasion oc-casion being her birthday. Places at dinner were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Larson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Foster and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Forbes Foster and baby of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Whipple and son of Ogden, Mrs. Foster and Francis. They presented Mrs. Foster with a lovely birthday gift. Mrs. Whipple remained for a visit with her mother. Lloyd L. Peterson has moved into the Earl Schmickle place in the Third ward where Stanley Peters has been living. Mr. Peters has moved into the Wagstaff home recently vacated va-cated by Henry Johnson. John Clark, who for the past winter win-ter has been teaching school at Vernal, Vern-al, has arrived here to spend the summer months. Mrs. Clark and the children have been here for the past , month. Ted Lee suffered three broken ribs last week whan he fell from a ladder while aiding in the removing of wall paper at his home. In honor of her 5th birthday the friends of little Miss Merelyn Binns gathered at her home last Friday. A jolly time of lively games was had. The Bee Hive girls are being entertained enter-tained tonight in the tabernacle with a Bee Hive Buzz. Many interesting games and conundrums have been prepared and a good crowd is expected. ex-pected. Mrs. John Despain was pleasantly surprised last Sunday when all her children called at her home for an early Mother's Day visit. Mr. Despain, Des-pain, who is supervisor at the C C C oamp at Woods Cross, was in Alpine in attendance at the funeral services of Mr. Terry, who died while in the Woods Cross camp. Mr. and Mrs. William Chipman and Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Peters were in attendance at the Red and White convention held Thursday afternoon at Payson. Mr. Peters was one of the convention speakers and at the election of officers was chosen to be one of the district advisors of the organization. In the evening the party was joined by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Meredith, Mr. and Mrs. West Hammond and Mr. and Mrs. Harvel Bennett for the banquet and dance. Miss Eleanor Nicholes of Provo, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nicholes of American Fork, and a junior at the B. Y. U., was awarded, the Elsie E. Carrol gold medal in Girls' Day devotional exercises ex-ercises last week. This is the second time that Miss Nicholes has won the medal which is awarded annually by Mrs. Carroll for the best short story with a western theme submitted by a girl student. She called her story "The Wedding." The award was made toy Mrs. Franklin Harris, honor guest of Girls' Day. Mrs. Emma Clements left Saturday Satur-day for Cheyenne, Wyoming, to visit with her husband who is working there. Mrs. Rosa H. Grant has returned to her home after a two months' visit with her daughter, Mrs. Victor Webb of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Lydia Otterson of Riverton. Mr- and Mrs. J. E- Chadwick and son, Wayne, and Miss Sadie Nelson Nel-son were business visitors in Salt Lake City, Friday- Mrs. R. W. Birch and son Malcolm of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Birch of American Fork, visited the Timpanogos Cave Sunday. They report the cave and the canyon as very beautiful. 'Mr. and Mrs. Clarence F. Barker of Salt Lake City, are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl foom May 8th in the L. D. S. hospital. The mother, formerly' Miss Maurine Christensen, and the baby are getting get-ting along fine. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Christensen were Sunday visitors in Salt Lake City at the home of his brother, A. L. Christensen. Chris-tensen. Monday Mr. Christensen visited the capitol city on business for the Chipman Mercantile Co. The Sorosis club met at the home of Mrs. C. T. Jones Friday with 12 members and four guests present. Bridge prize was awarded Mrs. E. J. Larsen of Lehi. , The invited guests were Mrs. Earl Holmstead, Mrs. Elmer El-mer Bate and Mrs. Martha Ball and daughter, Roberta, of Lehi. . The Gleaner class of the Fourth ward gave a surprise party Sunday on Lois Parduhn. A delightful afternoon after-noon was spent and dainty refreshments refresh-ments were served. The class presented pre-sented Miss Parduhn with a dozen silver spoons for her trousseau. Mrs- B. E. Booth has returned' to her home from' Salt Lake'.' where she underwent an operation Qn her eyes about eight weeks ago. She was accompanied home' by her' daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. i. r.
