These magazines represent a selection se-lection to suit almost any type of reading taste. The last-named two are new magazines which have at- tracted favorable comment. "Children's "Chil-dren's Activities" contains material of a character -building nature. ' "Newsweek" contains an interpretive interpre-tive digest of world and national events. Pleasant Grove Locals Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Jacobs and the Misses Kay and Ann Alene Jacobs Ja-cobs are leaving Tuesday for the Pacific Coast, on a vacation trip. Tl . y will spend Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Roland Jacobs at Palo Alto, and then go. to Los Angeles, where they will stay two weeks. Gleaner Girls of the Manila ward were entertained at a house party at the home of Mrs. Gwen Adams, this week. Progressive table games were played, the high score award being won by Mrs. Geneve Dalton and the consolation prize by Mrs. Keith Warnick. A lunch was served to the fifteen attending, at attractively attrac-tively decorated tables. Ward conference was held in the Windsor ward Sunday evening. The stake presidency, Wilford W. Warnick, War-nick, Edmund R. Cragun and M. S. Christiansen, were in attendance and spoke at the meeting. Mrs. Donna Chilton who has been seriously ill at the Lehi hospital, is reported to be improving. Mr. and Mrs. David Walker and daughter Orpha, and Geneal Thorne, will leave Friday morning for California, Cali-fornia, where they will spend some time visiting relatives. Mr. and Mi's. Elvin Thorne and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Beck spent Monday Mon-day evening in Alpine visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Loy Beck, the occasion occa-sion being Mrs. Loy Beck's birthday birth-day anniversary. Primary association officers of the-Manila the-Manila ward entertained the Primary Pri-mary children at a party Monday. Former officers of the First ward Relief society entertained at a delightful de-lightful party Tuesday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Eva C. Fage, who has served as secretary of the organization organiza-tion for 22 years. Mrs. Wesley J. Beck, president of the Relief so- Mrs. Thomas Fenton visited with relatives in Payson, Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Will Sterling of Salt Lake City were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Green, Sunday. Sun-day. Mrs. Rand Stephens of Provo was a visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fenton, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Peay spent Wednesday in Salt Lake City, on b' siness. Mrs. H. V. Swenson is spending a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Nell Gourley, at Holladay. Mrs. Mary Price is visiting this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Jacobs. Mr. and Mrs. Don Gamette are the proud parents of a son, . born November 10 at the Lehi hospital. Mrs. C. P. Warnick celebrated her eighty-fouith birthday anniversary Wednesday. Friends and her children chil-dren called during the dav to pay their respects to her, at her home in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Parker and f riily of West Point and Mrs. Pearl Holt of Salt Lake City were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Macfarlane, Sunday. The Mothers' club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. H. S. Richards. The meeting featured retold stories, by members of Mrs. Lacey White's Sixth grade class. Among the Pleasant Grove people peo-ple who went to the Brigham Young university and Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural college football game at Logan last Saturday were Jimmy Macfarlane, Macfar-lane, Alfred Dexter, Gordon Wright, Bill Told, Everett West, Anna Marie ciety, was in charge. A program featured the afternoon. It included a tribute to Mrs. Fage, by Mrs. Donna Don-na Olpin, and Mrs. Fage spoke briefly brief-ly in response. Talks also were given by Mrs. Annie Holman and Mrs. Elizabeth Noble. Mrs. Elizabeth Bullock, Bul-lock, a former president of the society so-ciety and with whom Mrs. Fage worked as an officer, presented a beautiful mirror to Mrs. Fage, as a gilt of appreciation from the Relief society. Another past president, Mrs. Ella Tomlinson, was present, as were Mrs. Fage's three daughters, Mrs. Vida Conway, Mrs. Maurine Bate-man Bate-man of Alpine, and Mrs. Maxcelia Pederson. Refreshments were served io tne sixty ladies attending. Walker and June Cragun. Members of the Primary association associa-tion board of Timpanogos stake visited vis-ited the Lindon ward Tuesday afternoon aft-ernoon and took charge of the Primary Pri-mary meeting. Those of the stake board attending were Rose Radmall, Lacy White, Janet Mills, Cora Bez-zant, Bez-zant, Vivian Evans, Viola Beers, Ida Brimhall, Wanda Blackhurst and Delia Mills. Mr. Ray Mills, Mary Mills, Fae Tomlinson and Electa Linebaugh spent the week-end at Logan, where they attended the B. Y. U.-TJ. S. A. C. game. While there they visited vis-ited with Marie Tomlinson. |
