An attractive bridal shower was given for Miss Bernyce Chipman Wednesday night by her mother, Mrs- Abner Chipman, and sister, Mildred. Progressive games were played and dainty refreshments served. The bride received many useful gifts for her new home- Mrs- John Strong of Magna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo T. Shelley, was operated on Tuesday , for appendicitis at the St. Mark's j hospital in Salt Lake City. She is reported improving nicely. Our band needs suits. Back the movement. Mrs. Elmer Bezzant and sen, Elroy, have gone to join Mr. Bezzant at the shecpherd where they will stay for I the summer months. Prof. Elmer E. Nelson, teacher of piano at the B. Y. TJ., will accept a limited number cf advanced students cr beginners for the summer course, ' commencing May 25 or June 1, at Phillip Green's residence. Mr. and Mrs. Jed Mercer, Jr., Mr. and" Mrs. Jack Iverson and Mrs. Nan Peck attended a meeting at the Elks club in Salt Lake City last week where Frank Belgrango gave a talk on the bonus bill. Mr. Belgrango is the National commander of the American Legion. Mrs. Dick Thomas left Friday for Kalispell, Montana, after a two weeks' visit here with her mother, Mrs. W. A. Robinson, and her sisters. Every American Fork citizen is boosting to get band uniforms. Do your part. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Nelson left Saturday for Idaho where they will visit for two weeks prior to leaving for West Yellowstone for the summer. sum-mer. Under the direction of Chief Irving Irv-ing L. Pratt and the firemen the traffic at the City cemetery was kept well under control on Memorial day. The firemen are to be complimented on this work which is so ably preformed each Memorial day. The Sorosis club will meet at the home of Mrs. John H. Miller Friday for the regular club meeting. All members are urged to be present. Mrs. Hazel Thomas returned to Kallespell after visiting here with her mother and sisters, Kate McTague and Bess Robinson. The two womens classes of the Second ward Sunday school will meet together Sunday to hear a special talk by Joseph K. Nicholes of the B. Y. U-, who will discuss Madame Currie and Radium. The Feality ladies held a Pot Lick party Friday at the home of Mrs. Doris Robinson. Each one brought a part of the refreshments letting no one know before hand what she was bringing. The Les Jolies Cuesineres (good cooks) 4-H club met at the home of Miss Edna Anderson Tuesday afternoon after-noon and organized the club- June Stewart was selected as president, with Elaine Miller, vice president, Mildred Bates, secretary and treasurer, treas-urer, Lenore Johnson, reporter, Rox-ie Rox-ie Harrington, yell master, and Barbara Bar-bara Sager activity chairman, assisted as-sisted by Leatrice Wag-staff. The A. B. club were the guests of Mrs. Fay Briggs Tuesday afternoon " a "iiubb pany. xne special guests cf the occasion were Mesdames Edna Ed-na Meredith, Elva Chadwick, Myrtle Houston, Leila Sykes, Ida Devey, Detta Taylor, Vina Steffins, Ted Chipman, Wanita Storrs, Cleone Cleghorn, Bernice Binns and Fay Clarke. The club prize was won by Melba Hindley and the guest prize by Myrtle Houston. Carol, little daughter of Mi-, and Mrs. Joseph L. Bair, is very ill with pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Whitby of California, Cali-fornia, arrived Monday night for a short visit with Mr. Whitby's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Whitby. Wednesday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wan-en Anderson An-derson were Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Anderson and son; James, of Nephi. ' Miss Thelma Shelley returned to her home here Monday from Bland-mg, Bland-mg, where she has spent the past winter teaching school. Miss Erma Smith of Alpine Margaret Mar-garet Davis of Lehi, and Grace Parker Park-er and Arvilla Devey are planning to leave Sunday for a vacation trip that will include Bryce Canyon Boulder, the Fair at San Diego, Los Angeles and up the coast and home oy way of San Francisco. They ex-sect ex-sect to be gone about a month and Mrs. Fred Bassett. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Konold left yesterday for Salt Lake City where thej will remain for a few days prior to then- departure by bus for an extended ex-tended trip to the coast. They will travel just as Mr. Konold'-s health will permit going first to San Francisco Fran-cisco then down the coast visiting at Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Diego and home bv way of Boulder City. The Variety club members met Thursday at the home of Mrs. Ethel Nicholes and enjoyed an interesting in-teresting afternoon of bridge. Prizes were awarded to Thelma Moss, a member, and Berniece Adams, a giiest- Special guests were LaRee Van Wagoner, Edith Fox, Grace Chipman, Edith Brown, Mary Humphries, Leona Noyes. Berniece Adams, Edith Singleton and Mrs. James Chadwick. In honor of the 82nd birthday of Parley Austin a family dinner was given at his home Tuesday evening. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Austin and his children: Mr. and John N. Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Clif-ford Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Austin, William Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Gray and Mrs. Ethel Brown of Lehi; Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Chip-man, Chip-man, American Fork, and Mr. and .Mrs. Airl Larsen of Vineyard. A jolly time was had, all commending Air. Austin on his splendid physical condition which he retains. |
