Show I An Open Letter i To the Public of the Timpanogo Stake, to the Scouts and Those Interested In Scouting. Kind Friends: We note with interest the proposee , Jamboree outing of the Boy Scout: I of America to be held in Washing- ton, D. C, August 21st to 30th anc feel fully in sympathy with the j movement, realizing how great wil be the joy and advantage to those . who are thus permitted to attend I and are selected to represent theii respective Scout troup at this con- Tention. Every registered troop is entitled to one Scout, and as our Timpanogos Timpano-gos district has six troops registered we are entitled to six representa- , tives, and should we not avail our- ; selves of the privilege, our allotment will be offered to other scouts, first in the Timpanogos Council which comprises practically all parts oi Utah south of "Point of Mountain", then to the State of Utah, then to Regional District No. 12 which takes in all Western States. The cost of tickets and expenses from Utah will be about $105.00 per scout. And will go together on two special trains by . rail and properly under the care oi a sufficient number of elderly scout-ers scout-ers for their comfort and protection. While we realize in our district it will cost $630.00, it is not intended that this trip is to be just a pleasure trip for the Scout who shall be so favored as to go. or that the community com-munity at large is going to rustle this expense without the earnest effort ef-fort of the boy or the troup so favored. fav-ored. Neither is it intended that this shall be a convention of rich men's sons, who would like to send their boy and bear all the expense themselves. It is therefore understood under-stood that the responsibility of raising rais-ing this expense be placed upon the troop to pay for their own representative represen-tative and expect them to show some life and interest in arriving at that end. While it is realized that such an amount will be hard for a single troop to reach, to assist in this accomplishment, a committee of seven has been selected to raise funds from other sources, consisting of the district troop committeeman of the respective wards. The Bank of Pleasant Grove has ' kindly agreed to act as Secretary-Treasurer Secretary-Treasurer of this fund, accepting any : and all contributions and keeping a strict accounting of same. This amount will be equally distributed among the troops who have qualified a representative for this Jamboree and raised a sufficient amount of the fare to make their one sixth of this fund sufficient to pay their i fare to attend. Those troops not having a representative attending said Jamboree, shall not participate in this fund, but same will be retained retain-ed by the committee and apportioned apportion-ed to Scouts. Among the other , troops who sends a scout to the convention. con-vention. Being a member of the committee, I am much in hopes of having Timpanogos Timp-anogos District represented by a few bright and wide awake Scouts, of which we have a great number, and personally pledge myself to donate , to this fund, regardless of any other j source, one dollar for each Scout 1 sent to said Jamboree, and challenge everyone interested in Scouting to I join in any amount they may feel ! to contribute.
