Show 1939"Chev"ToBe Shown At Local Motor Company First showing of the new 1939 Chevrolet will be held here tomorrow, tomor-row, when the latest models new and shiny from the factory will be shown to the public at the Martin Nielsen Auto company. The showroom of the local Chevrolet Chev-rolet dealers will remain open until late Saturday, to afford the public an opportunity to see the new cars. Four 1939's, illustrating the chang-i chang-i es in body design and innovations in colors and model types will be driven driv-en on the show floor at the Nielsen Auto company for public inspection. Sleek new aero-stream bodies suggesting sug-gesting fleetness and luxury are combined with numerous mechanical mechani-cal advancements, at least two of which are major in character. The two new Chevrolet series are designated as the Master DeLuxe and the Master 84. Two new models ... a Master DeLuxe four-passenger coupe, with many distinctive features, fea-tures, and a Master 85 business coupe' available on both chassis . . . are added for 1939. The major mechanical improvements improve-ments for 1939 are the new vacuum gearshift with steering column control, con-trol, optional on both series at nominal nomi-nal extra cost, and the new perfected knee-action riding system on the Master DeLuxe. This improvement includes an entirely new knee-action mechanism, tailored as a unit to the car, to assure maximum riding comfort over all roads. The power plant in both series is the Chevrolet 85-horsepower high-compression high-compression six-cylinder valve-in-head engine, in which refinements introduced in 1938 are continued, and additional refinements resulting in greater economy, durability, and ease of servicing, incorporated .for 1939. Improvements have been made in the ignition and oiling systems, sys-tems, the carburetor, the intake manifold thermostatic control, the harmonic balancer, which is now floated in rubber, and the cooling system, which now has a self-adjusting permanently-lubricated ballbearing ball-bearing water pump. The d i a-phragm-type Tiptoe-matic clutch introduced in-troduced for 1938 is continued with improvements, chief of which is new provision for ventilation. Outwardly, the new Chevrolet is longer and lower in appearance. This is accomplished by the new design de-sign of fenders, wheels, running boards, and hood, as well as by a new window treatment. o |
