Word comeTfrom Ely, Nevada announcing the birth of a baby girl on September 22nd, to Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Christiansen (Kate ( Dun-ant) in the hospital there. , Naomi and Ida Frederick arrived ' home Saturday after a three weeks visit in Los Angeles with then-aunt then-aunt and grandmother, Mrs. J. M. Anderson and Mrs. Sarah A. Daws. The G. A. Club met Wednesday night, the opening meeting after a vacation during the summer months. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. J. W. Phillips who gave a short sketch of Utah's history. Delicious De-licious refreshments were served to the twelve members present. Am. Fork Locals Mrs. Ida Clark of Farmington was visiting several clays this week, with relatives here. Mrs. Mabel Miller spent l'ast Thursday In Salt Lake with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Leavitt. Mr. and Mrs. Frank O. Nielsen and family have moved to Midvale, Mr. Nielsen being employed there. Mrs. J. A. Shipley of Salt Lake, visited in American Fork Sunday and Monday with Mr. and Mrs. James T. Gardner. Miss Amy Shelley with Mrs. Jennie Jen-nie N xstrum of Lehi spent last Saturday Sat-urday afternoon and evening in Provo Pro-vo visiting with friends. Mr. and Mrs. John Grantham and son of Salt Lake, visited with friends and relatives in American Fork Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gaisford and family have moved to National, Carbon County, where Mr. Gaisford is employed. Ernest Hindley Jr. is In Jerome, Idaho, for a short time, being employed em-ployed there. Miss Sarah Shelley, a student at the B. Y. U., spent last week-end here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Shelley. Mrs. S. T. Shelley and son Paul, I accompanied Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Walker of Pleasant (Grove to Salt Lake Sunday last and visited with Mrs. James Bowlden. I j Mrs. A. F. Gaisford Jr. was a guest 'of her sister, Mrs. LeRoy Davis in Lehi Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.; ! Davis entertained the Athenian Club of that city. The American Fork Sorosis Club was entertained by Mrs. Glen Adam-' Adam-' son at her home in Lehi last Friday i afternoon. Sewing and social chat were enjoyed as well as a tasty punch. J Mrs. Hazel Cunningham left the j local hospital Wednesday for her home, having been operated upon Mrs. Clarence Growers and daughters daugh-ters of Nephl are spending the week here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Clyde. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Briggs of Elko, Nevada, visited in American Fork Mrs. W. R. Halliday and Mrs. Junius West were hostesses Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon to the Ladies Literary Club at the Halliday home. A splendid splen-did review of "The Fountain" was given by Mrs. Christian Jensen of Provo, which was greatly enjoyed by the ladies. There were sixteen members mem-bers present. For the occasion the rooms were prettily decorated m fall colors and flowers. A tasty lunch was served late in the afternoon. Mrs. Orin. Ashton entertained at her home last Friday nihi- :n compliment com-pliment to her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Laurence Ashton, a recent bride The party was a miscellaneous shower and there were forty ladies present. A program and games provided entertainment en-tertainment for aU, and a dainty lunch was served. Mrs. Ashton received re-ceived many lovely gifts, as well as a host of good wishes. Mrs. Mary Olsen of Pleasant Grove is visiting this week at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie A. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. David Grant and son Morris left Friday for Salt Lake to reside. Mr. Grant has employment employ-ment at the West Jordan sugar factory. fac-tory. ,Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Baird and family made a business trip to Logan Lo-gan Sunday and returned Monday. Enroute home tliey visited in Ogden with Mr. Baird's brother, J. L. Baird, who is in the hospital seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heagren of Salt Lake visited here Sunday witii Mrs. Heagren's sister, Mrs. Hannah Rhodes. They all motored in the afternoon to Murray and visited the ladies' brother, Arthur Laycock, who has a large turkey farm there. Miss Mary Young left by bus Monday Mon-day night for Twin Falls, Idaho, to spend the winter with her sisters in that city. Miss Young had spent the past year here with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Draper. Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Phillips and family have moved into the home owned by Charles Kelly in the Third ward. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Sims and daughter have moved to Lehi to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Canfield and family, who have been living in the old Shipley home in the Second ward, have moved mov-ed to Provo. two weeks before for hernia. She is recuperating nicely. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. I. A. gave a social and dance Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Baxter. Mayor Warren Anderson was a business visitor in Provo Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Ernest Hindley Jr. and son are spending this week in Cedar Fort with Mrs. Hindley's parents,, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cook. Mrs. Stanford Wilde and small son Dick, spent last Friday in Provo, visiting Mrs. Wilde's sister, Mrs. Sam Kelly and family. Mrs. Albert Birk entertained at dinner Sunday. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Angus Christensen of Copperton; Mr. and Mrs. Thornton Thorn-ton Birk, Mr. and Mrs. Birk. Friends of John Pulley will be glad to learn he steadily improves in the local hospital and expects to be able to return home the last of this week. Mr. Pulley has had a serious tussle with complications following a ruptured rup-tured appendix. The Primary Association officers and teachers of the Second ward met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. B. Allen with Miss Relia Allen assisting hostess. Preparation Prepara-tion was made for the Primary conference con-ference to be held the last of this month. There were twenty present. Little Miss Mariam Humphries celebrated her fifth birthday Tuesday Tues-day afternoon by having twenty little friends as guests at a party at her home. Games were enjoyed and a dainty lunch was served by Mrs. Owen Humphries, mother of Mariam. Last Thursday afternoon Mrs. John Wing entertained the Feality Club members and several special guests at her home. Lovely fall flowers adorned the entertaining rooms. Bridge was played at four' tables, the prize being won by Miss Croft, guest, and Mrs. Violet Oster-loh, Oster-loh, member. Late in the afternoon a delicious lunch was served. The special guests were Mrs. Myron Boley, Bo-ley, Mrs. Walter Devey Jr., and Mrs. James Chadwick of this city; Misses Croft and Pack of Provo. The open night of the Senior class of the First ward M. I. A. was observed with a get-acquainted social so-cial Tuesday night. The class attended at-tended the opening exercises of Mutual meeting in the ward chapel, after which they went to the home of Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Noyes. Progressive "Stung" was played at six tables, prizes being won by Mrs. Clarence Growers and LeRoy Mech-am. Mech-am. Dainty refreshments were served. serv-ed. There were twenty-four present. The party was arranged by the class activity committee comprised of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brown, Mrs. Noyes. Mrs. Kenneth Singleton and Mrs. Afton Steiner. |
