Show Ward Celebrates 49th Birthday With Reunion Members of the Manila ward celebrated cele-brated the forty-ninth anniversary of the founding of the ward, at a reunion Thursday evening. Depicting the organization 49 years ago, a- demonstration in tableaux, .with L. M. Atwood as the reader, -was presented. Representing the bishopric and presidents of the auxiliary organizations of that, time were descendants of the early ward officers, as follows: Leland Swenson, representing his grandfather, Knute Swenson, the first bishop; and Nyal Wadley and Alex Wadley, their grandfathers. Counselors Joseph Halliday and William Wadley, respectively; and Wamick Swenson, as Hans Hansen, ward clerk. Mrs. Ora Chipman, representing I her mother, Mrs. Annie Holman, president of the young women's Mutual Improvement association; Mrs. Effie Adams, as Mrs. Isabella Wadley, Relief society president; Mrs. Lillian Ellis, as Mrs. Maggie Sorenson Johnson, Primary association associa-tion president; and Vilace Radmall as Alma Radmall, president of the young men's Mutual Improvement association. The dramatization was directed by Mrs. Nettie Warnick, one of the orig- inal members of the ward. The reunion re-union was under the direction of the bishopric. Under direction of the M. I. A. and Primary association officers, dancing and refreshments concluded the evening's activities. At the program, new Sunday School songbooks were provided. These were purchased by the various var-ious families of the ward, and presented pre-sented to the Sunday School, the donors signing the family name on the fly-leaf of their gift book. o |
