Show - - - l Church President Celebrates Wedding Wed-ding Anniversary Saturday, May 26th, marked the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage mar-riage of Heber J. Grant, president of the L. D. S. church, and his wife, August Winters Grant. Tire anniversary was quietly observed by this respected couple by a motor trip up American Fork canyon and over the Alpine scenic loop road, down through Provo canyon and to American Fork where a dinner was given by the president's daughter, j Mrs. Clifford E. Young. Later in; the day they visited Pleasant Grove, where Mrs. Grant was bom and j silent her early girlhood. All the living daughters of president presi-dent Grant and their husbands with the exception of Mrs. Isaac Blair Evans, of Pasadena, California, attended at-tended the dinner at the Young home here at 2 o'clock. These included in-cluded Dr. and Mrs. John H. Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. George J. Cannon, Mr. and Mrs. Willard R. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. J. George Midgley, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Judd, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace F. Bennett and Axel, A. Madsen. Following the dinner president Grant, accompanied by Dr. George; W. Middle-ton and a grandson, Leslie Les-lie Midgley. left for Fillmore, where j they remained Saturday night, and : left early Sunday for Cedar City, where the president dedicated thei new Cedar First ward chapel. I Mrs. Grant has one daughter,! Mrs. Robert L. Judd, but has also mothered six children, left by the j death of the president's first wife, j Lucy Stringham Grant and the, three children of her own sister, Helen Winters Woodruff. |
