Show Largest Class In District Graduated Thirty-one young men and twency-six twency-six young women, fifty-seven in all, graduates of the American Pork High school, received their diplomas at the commencement exercises of the school held in the Alpine stake audtorium Thursday night, May 24th. Hie program was very well attended, and enjoyed by all. The commencement exercises this ear varied perhaps more than any .her preceding graduation program a that no outside speakers were irought here to address the gradu-xtes. gradu-xtes. It was made up entirely of high school talent and featured five short talks by members of the graduation grad-uation class each treating some phase of the program theme "How Our School Trains In Citizenship". It is always an inspiring sight to see young graduates come forward, heads erect and radiant with the joy of educational accomplishment. To a march played on the organ by Miss Alice Parker, the graduates came from the rear of the auditorium and proceeded down the center aisles, the young men and women alternating. ' Each and every young women was lovely in her floor length gown of pastel hue and each wore or carried a bouquet. Principal Jesse M. Walker was in charge of the program which was as follows: Organ prelude, Miss Alice Parker; March of the graduates; "Morning", Ladies Glee under direction direc-tion of K. J. Bird; Invocation, Bishop Bish-op Edward Burgess, Alpine; Violin solo, Miss Helen Johnson; "Elements of Good Citizenship", Raymond Chadwick; "The Class Room as a Citizenship Laboratory," Miss Edith Marsh; "How Student Government Trains in Citizenship," Jack Parker; vocal solo, "I Hear You Calling Me", Dan-ell Wanlass; "Extra Curricular I Activities and their Relation to 'Citizenship," Hugh Clark; "The Pro-Iduct," Pro-Iduct," Mir.s Bonna Ashby; "Varme-i "Varme-i land," High School Male Glee, directed di-rected by K. J. Bird; Presentation of I diplomas, James B. Smith, of Alpine, 'member of the School Board; "The ' Old Road," High School Male Quar-'tet; Quar-'tet; Benediction, Max Groesbeck. Following the exercises a gradua-! gradua-! tion dance w-as held in the high ; school gymnasium, to which the patrons were invited. o |
