Show City, Lions And C. of C. Plan Ice Skating Rink At Central School Ground One of the finest community skating skat-ing rinks in the state will be available avail-able for winter sports enthusiasts of Pleasant Grove, with completion of a proposed rink at the Central school grounds. Plans for the project were outlined out-lined at a meeting of representatives of the city, Lions club and Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce, Wednesday night. The rink will be sponsored by the three groups, and will be supervised under their direction. According to plans approved by the committee Wednesday night, the skating rink will be a large one, covering between one and one-half to two acres. It will be located on the Central school property. The biggest problem of preparing the rink will be to construct the banks. This will be done with the city grader, and probably by contributed con-tributed labor, according to Frank D. Atwood of the committee. When the area, is enclosed by the earth bank, it will be flooded, allowed to freeze, and reflooded, until it has a suitable skating surface. It will be reflooded and allowed to freeze as often as necessary to keep a smooth surface. It is expected to be a popular sports center for children and adults, alike, during the winter. If the' freezing weather continues over a normal period, ice-skating will be enjoyed at "the rink for several weeks. It is planned to have the rink properly supervised, Mr. Atwood said. Members of the City-Lions club-Chamber club-Chamber of Commerce committee are Frank D. Atwood, Joseph Day, H. E. Bradley, Dr. E. A. Pearson, Lyean Johnson, Ray Merrill, Ert-man Ert-man Christensen, J. C. Rollins and William C. Smith. o |
