Paula Kimball played number three singles this year. Paula really re-ally improved and would never give up. Her positive attitude and being coachable will take her a long way in tennis and life. Pleasant Grove's number one doubles team had a superior year. Kelli Francom and Karen Jones had a goal to finish the season with a good record. Not only did they have a good season, but they finished as region champs. They not only finished with a 9-1 9-1 record in region play, but defeated de-feated a fine Timpview team to bring home the gold. Both girls are juniors and they are looking forward for-ward to their senior year. Another pair of juniors is Heather Johnsen and Val Nickell. Heather and Val played number two doubles. What a great year they had. With teamwork and dedication they captured second place in region and third place in state. Next year could even be better. The state tournament was held in Salt Lake at Liberty Park. Approximately Ap-proximately 25 schools were represented repre-sented at the two-day tournament. Six Pleasant Grove girls qualified quali-fied for state. Winning three matches enabled the girls to finish seventh in state. Not bad for their first year as a 4-A school. Coaches Paul and LeeAnn Schoonover would like to thank the parents, school administration, students and all the girls for their support. They will miss the graduating seniors and wish them continued success. They are also excited about some younger girls with lots of talent. |
