Maxi's Diner open By KALYN SECRETAN Maxi's Diner opened its doors recently and greeted customers with a full breakfast and lunch menu including steak and seafood. Hortt Carter cooks in true diner style with the grill out in front where he can associate with the customers. Carter moved over to the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove location from the Provo area and welcomes all friends and patrons from the Provo area to Pleasant Grove. He serves the same good food and service offered at Keiths Lunch in Provo which he operated for nearly two years. Carter has been cooking on and off for six years. He worked in construction for a while but when the construction business busi-ness gave up he went back to cooking. cook-ing. He also was a cook at the popular K C's in Santaquin. The new diner is now open from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Within the next two weeks they hope to expand and be open until 10 p.m. Hortt has assistance from his wife Kathy as well as his mom, who does all the baking. She managed the lunchroom at Cascade Elementary Elemen-tary for 22 years. One of the great treats of a meal is biting into her home-made rolls. She also makes pastries, sweet rolls, six inch cookies cook-ies and brownies daily for the diner and the convenience store. Fried steak, fried shrimp and a seafood combo are special features of the house. The custom cut steaks are purchased locally in Lindon. A get-acquainted coupon special is available now with coupons in the paper or they can be obtained from the adjoining convenience store for a chicken fried steak lunch for only $ 1 .99 . It features the steak, potatoes and gravy, vegetable anc roll. The newly remodeled facility seats about 60 people with seating available for smoking and non smoking. Groups are welcome. The new facility is located a State Road and Center Street (for mally the site of West Winds Care) It is open six days a week and close on Sundays. |
