Show Arvin J. Hullinger sustained as second counselor in Manila Stake Presidency f I ' Arvin Jay Hullinger was sustained as the second counselor in the Manila Stake Presidency in a stake conference held May 31, according to Stake President Grant Fugal. At the time of his calling to the new position, Pres. Hullinger was serving as assistant stake purchasing pur-chasing agent and was in charge of coordinating temple activities in the High Priests Group in the Manila Fifth Ward. Pres. Hullinger was born in Montwell, Utah on Sept. 29, 1926. His parents were Charles Adelbert Hullinger and Arda Hazel Johnson. He received his education in schools in the Uintah Basin. During World War II, he joined the Marine Corps and served with a Marine detachment detach-ment aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Midway. He worked at the Geneva Plant of U. S. Steel for 41 years, retiring in June of 1986. He married Luana Joyce McOmie on Dec. 20, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of seven children, five sons and two daughters. They have 15 grandchildren. gran-dchildren. Pres. Hullinger has served as Elder's Quorum secretary and has been an assistant ward clerk and a ward clerk under two bishops. For a number of years he served as a Seventies President in the 135th Quorum of Seventy. He served a stake mission and was a counselor in the Timpanogos Stake Mission Presidency. He was called as bishop of the newly organized Manila Second Ward in 1970. After being released as bishop, he served as Stake Young Men's president in the Timpanogos Stake. When the Manila Stake was organized, he was called to serve on the High Council. Arvin Jay Hullinger |
