Brett has always had a love for animals, mainly dogs. Presidently his love is a German Wirehaired Pointer. Brett named her Gretchen. He trained her and uses her for hunting each fall. He also has a horse n amed Repeat, because she is the image of her father. Brett has always loved sports. He has enjoyed playing soccer, tennis, basketball and baseball. Brett is active in his Church and is presently a priest. He was active in scouting and earned his Life award. He has a goal of becoming an Eagle Scout. At present, his goals are to finish high school with a B average, serve a mission and follow his brothers examples. Vikings of the Month for January at Pleasant Grove High School are seniors Lisa Ann Spivey and Robert Paul Richards; juniors Shauna Zabel and Brett Madsen; and sophomores Jani Jones and Will Kimball. Lisa Ann Spivey Lisa was born March 12, 1968 in Provo, to Glen and Bonnie Spivey. She attended Provoest and Sunset Elementary schools and Dixon junior high school in Provo. Lisa has one brother and one sister and two step brothers. Over the last four years Lisa has changed her goals several times and is continuing to change day by day always leaving an element of surprise and suspence as to what she really intends to do with her life after high school. Over the course of the last two Robert played in the Bantam Basketball program for the Lakers for three years and later on the ninth and tenth grade teams. During his sophomore year, he sang with the mixed choir under the direction of Terry Tucker and then with the A cappella choir his junior year. This year he sings with both the A cappella and Chamber Choirs and will travel with them to Washington D.C. in April. Robert has been in the presidencies of his deacon, teacher and priests quorums at church and has been seminary class president his sophomore and senior years. He has b een on the honor roll or high honor roll since the seventh grade. He is also a member of the National Honor Society. He is planning on attending BYU in the fall and working at Utah Valley Turf until time for his mission. His Vikings of the Month are, front L-- Lisa Spivey, Jani Jones, Shauna Zabel. Back, Will Kimball, Brett Madsen, Robert P. Richards. He has played the trombone for six years and currently plays in the Alpine Chamber Orchestra and the Utah Valley Youth Symphony as well as the high school Show Band. He is learning the baritone and hopes the other brass in-struments from there. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has lived in Wisconsin, California, Arizona, Texas and Utah, and a couple of cities in each state. The family has lived in Utah Jani Jones Jani (Janiece) was born in the American Fork Hospital on November 24, 1969. She arrived with a full head of straight dark brown hair. She has lived her whole life thus far in two different homes on 1400 East in Pleasant Grove. Jani is the third child, second daughter of a family of seven children. Some of her favorite en-tertainments are to ride her motorcycle, be with friends and sew some super creations. She loves to read good books, play the p iano and sing - even while playing. She experiments with anything relating to cooking and creates some outstanding confections. Jani enjoys skiing and exercises regularly. This summer she plans on taking up a new sport, water skiing. Jan, or Jani, or Janiece as known by her family, reads and studies her scriptures regularly. She takes her studies at school very seriously and has maintained a near 4.0 grade average as long as her parents can Will Kimball Will Kimball is the second child and the first boy of seven other children born to Pam and Wayne Kimball. He is a pleasant even-temper-guy, yet has a strong desire to achieve in the areas he chooses. years Lisa has changed from the roll of a follower to being a leader. She takes responsibility for jobs assigned her and completes them. She has gone out of her way to make sure new people in the school feel welcome and she has worked try ing to make everyone she knows feel equal and important. Lisa has taken on a few big challenges this year to mention a few: Currently acting as student representative for. the PTA, organized the Homecoming pageant, produced and directed it, took a group of fellow students and taught them routines, fought for girls equality so they would be able to perform at games, this group is known as "Spirit Leaders". Lisa likes a challenge and has a way about her to direct her energies in a constructive and beneficial manner. Robert Paul Richards Robert Richards, son of Dr. Paul B. and Cathy Richards, spent his first years in Omaha, Nebraska before moving to Orem. He at-tended Sharon Elementary School and later Grovecrest Elementary in Pleasant Grove. He joined the Pleasant Grove City Swim Team and was the high point winner in the nine and ten year old division at the County Recreational Championship meet held in Springville. goal is to become a doctor after his mission. Robert is an avid BYU football fan and enjoys many other spec-tator sports. He also enjoys skiing, swimming and golf. Shauna Zabel Shauna is the daughter of K. Allan and Nancy Zabel. She has danced in the Nutcracker for the Utah Youth Ballet. She has enjoyed Drill Team for the past two years. Last summer at drill team camp she was given a pink ribbon and nominated for the Superstar Drill Team. This entitles her to participate in the St. Patrick's Day activities held in Ireland this March. She is looking forward to this trip. She is employed by a local Data Management Consulting firm. She is a member of DECA. Shauna also loves sports. She is a manager for the girls basketball team. In the future she would like to attend Ricks College. Brett Madsen Brett was born in Bountiful on October 21, 1969: He was the fourth son born in the family. He is the son of Rulon and Jeniel Madsen. He spent his first two years in Kaysville, Utah. He and his brothers Rick, Guy and Shawn had many good times there. a year and a half now, where Will has been the landscaper. He belongs to the National Honor Society and does well in art and caligraphy and swimming. Besides good grades, musician, artist, swimmer, and worker, he has a neat dog he has been training and is currently working on some basketball skills. Sweetheart Dance slated Saturday The F.B.L.A. and DECA clubs of Pleasant Grove High School are hosting the annual Sweetheart Dance which will be held February 8 at 8 p.m. The dance is semiformal and boys choice. For the $6 price it should be an evening well spent. Many hours of planning have already been spent planning this event. So come on guys grab your favorite girl and come on to the Sweetheart. |
