Show Year-round school m detrimental to family Editor: Year-round schooling is the most detrimental idea to the family unit that has ever been proposed. The foundation of this great "a country comes from a strong family , unit. Three months during the )r ' summer is a very special time when I, as a parent, really get to know my children and wife. It is the only solid i length of time that is available for the family to become closer in love, ifjdll unity and purpose. If you destory this unit, you destroy this nation. Whatever the reason for the loss of the "three month summer vacation," it will not compensate for the loss or deterioration of the family unit. I would ask one question: What does the year-round schooling do to enhance family life? Nothing! The pluses do not outweigh the minuses in this situation. -Duane Thornton Pleasant Grove |
