Show Half marathon scheduled Sat. Serious runners have a few days rstiaining to prepare for the second -annual Whole Hearted Half Marathon sponsored by American Fork Hospital, Saturday, Sept. 13, it? a.m. Registration for the race will be held at the hospital at 6:30 am. that morning. The 13.1 mile course through northern Utah County will begin mi end at the medical facility with a turn around at the Alpine Country Qub. An aid station and split time wordings will be available at the ay point. The $5 entry fee will include a sPrts bag, and the three overall miners will also go home with first-W first-W place trophies. Male and female divisions will be as follows: 0-16, 17-29, 30-35, 36-41, 42-49 and 50- ' "This is a good race for serious runners," said Dennis Hartle, race coordinator. "You can run hard and still feel better by evening! It's not like a marathon where you need days to recover." The half marathon has been used in the past as a training race prior to the St. George Marathon scheduled for the end of October. "We expect some real competition this year," said Hartle. The winner of last year's race completed the course with a time of .1:11:16. According to Hartle, none of the other participants even came close to the winning time. |
