Show Bids come in under estimate By MARCELLA WALKER All of the apparent low bids opened at the Pleasant Grove City Council meeting last week came in under the engineer's estimate. Bids were accepted for three projects, including the 600 West sever line extension for which the city has. received Community Block Grant funds to do, two inch asphalt overlays, and the 1400 East Road Improvements which is contingent upon the approval of the residents on that street. On the 600 West sewer extension the engineer's estimate was $196,000 and the apparent low bid was from Ford Construction for $154,427.50. The estimate on the 1400 East improvements im-provements was $67,477.40. The apparent low bid was from Staker Paving for $64,534.80. On the overlays the engineers estimate was for $55,550 for Schedule I, $22,869 for Schedule II, and $14,404 for Schedule III. Staker Paving had the apparent low bid of $45,421.25 on Schedule I which is Main Street from State Road 89 to Center St. Geneva Rock Products had the apparent low bid of $18,325.40 on Schedule II which is Loader Ave. from 200 South to 500 South. Staker Paving had the apparent low bid of $12,651.50 for Schedule III which is 30 South from about 1000 East to 1100 East. The 600 West sewer project cannot be awarded until it is approved by the state. Lee Wimmer, city engineer, said he hoped the bid could be awarded on Sept. 3 and then work could begin soon thereafter. The 1400 East road improvement project is to be part of a Special Improvement District and it must be approved by the majority of property owners before it will be undertaken. The city council was desirous of getting the ground work on bids done so that as soon as the SID is ready to go the work can begin. |
