Show Eagles Lodge helps families By CINDY LLOYD The Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge of Pleasant Grove is helping families in need with Christmas again this year. Owen and JoAnn Farley have been organizing the donations and taking applications for the program under the direction of Larry Stag, Aerie President, and Lynn Carter, President of the Womens' Auxiliary. The Pleasant Grove Eagles Lodge has been helping families with Christmas every year for the past sixteen years, and have been pleased with the success of the programs. The various organizations within the Lodge have sponsored different fund raising activities during the past months. Last year the Lodge sponsored thirteen families. The Lodge is still taking more applications for families and are screening them through United Way. ShowBiz Pizza of Orem has been a big help with lots of toys donated as well as canned goods. Wayne Adams has donated twenty-three twenty-three Christmas Trees for the program. Another program the Pleasant Grove Eagles are working on in coordination with the Spanish Fork and Provo Lodges are donations for the State Hospital in Provo. Owen Farley said the hospital is desperately in need of clothing for ages four to seventy, as well as personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, disposable razor blades, lipsticks and perfume. Slippers and socks are also needed for the patients. Donations will be accepted until December 17. New clothes, second hand clothes in good condition, canned goods, cash and toy donations are still needed. Anyone wishing to donate may do so at the Pleasant Grove Lodge located at 220 North 600 West in Pleasant Grove. |
