Show Citizen, Review, Press, Deamer's offers new concept Wed., Mar. 21, 1984 - Page 13 "Deamer's," American Fork's newest diet store and weight loss program, will officially open Friday, March 23, to introduce area residents to the "Nutritious Diet and Diet Nutri-Ma- rt everyone is raving about!" Maureen Hanlon, director, said Gaye Deamer, Deamer's originator, will be on hand for the 10 a.m. opening. Also invited have been American Fork Mayor Malcolm H. Beck, and other city and Chamber of Commerce of-ficials. Located at 76 South Center in American Fork, the center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for lunchtime (from 12 noon until 1 p.m.) Telephone is 756-599- Ms. Hanlon said under the weight ' loss program, dieters are allowed-suc-formerly forbidden foods as pies, cakes, cookies, cheese cake, ice cream, eight slices of bread a day, four uarts of luscious milkshakes a day, avocados, potatoes and gravy, peanut butter, eating that is causing the problem." Ms. Hanlon said the Deamer's program consists of a seven-syste-weight loss program: Counseling daily, two sysslem reducing plan; maintenance program for life; exercise; Deamer's Nutri Mart' and Nutrition Education and Self Awareness Classes. "This diet gets every bodily function working for the dieter, including metabolism, digestive tract, blood sugar concentration, hypothalamus (appetite control center of the brain) and fat ther-mosta- (set point), she said. The classes are offered once a month and are open to the public. These will be advertised so people will be aware of them. They are free. The NutriMart is a store which carries highly nutritious foods from whole wheat pastas to sugarless milkshakes, pies, etc. Foods, Ms-- . Hanlon said, which have been tested for nutritional value and approved for a good weight loss program or for someone who must monitor their sugar intake. She said the Deamer's NutriMart will be open to the public every weekday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Ms. Hanlon said 98 percent of the weight losing community in the United States gain their lost pounds back. Gaye Deamer, a nutritionist of 25 years, continually frustrated by this fact, set out to find out how this phenominal average of regaining weight could be changed. After much study, she found that when the needs of the body were met through good nutrition, pounds would be shed and not return with continued maintenance of good eating from the basic food groups. Ms. Hanlon trained at the Deamers' headquarters in Salt Lake City. She resides in Pleasant Grove. She added Deamer's plans to have a nutrition library where the public can come and learn more about nutritional needs. V ' - ! ' , ..' - , y v' ' ;' 1. i H8 - ! 1 N ! ,v i v i . ? I E V ) ii !
