Show ! Utah to hold Wildlife Week Utah Governor Scott Matheson last week signed a proclamation declaring Utah's observance of National Wildlife Week. Delegates from the Utah Chapter of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources were on hand at a brief ceremony on Capitol Hill announcing the March 20-26 observance. ob-servance. The year 1983 marks the 46th annual observance of Wildlife Week in the United States, a ; tradition begun in 1938. The theme for this year's ob-i ob-i servance is "This Is Your Land - Public Lands Belong to all of us." i Jay Hair, Executive Vice-president Ltne NWF, says "We chose our J983 theme to focus maximum attention at-tention on the economic, recreational and biological importance im-portance of public lands to the People and wildlife of our country." According to Hair, every American Ctizen is part owner of 740 million : j!cres of federal land, or about one ! th'rd of the entire country. The ! western states have the lion's share PJJblic lands.
