Show Police Will Enforce Turn Regulation Pleasant Grove City Council Tuesday . night authorized the enforcement of no left turns on Main Street and asked the city street department to stripe the street in accordance. Following weeks of discussion of the best procedure to follow, Councilman Dave Dickerson studied the problem of people making illegal left turns on Main Street. His plan, which was approved by the council, was said to be a compromise between what the police chief had recommended and what the downtown businessmen would like. Double yellow lines will be painted on Main Street from Center Street to the State Road. These lines are accepted statewide as indicating "no left turn" or "U turn" where they are located. No other signs are necessary to make the law enforceable, Councilman Council-man Dickerson said. Breaks will be made in the double yellow lines at mid-block where necessary, such as at the entrance to the west city parking lot adjacent to Deseret Bank, at intersections and wherever else it is deemed safe and proper to make a break in the lines. When the striping is completed the police officers will be asked to enforce the law and issue citations to anyone crossing those lines to grab a parking place on the other side of the street, etc. i |
