Show Dorothy E. McFarlane Retires From School Dist. Dorothy E. McFarlane, who is retiring the last of June, has been with Alpine School District for 15 years as a secretary. Mrs. McFarlane is a native of Denver, Colorado. She was educated in the Denver school system. Her post high school education includes Greeley State Teacher's College, Emily Griffith School, Brigham Young University, Utah Technical College and classes for the Institute of Banking. Dorothy's work experience encompasses supervisor for Remington Dupont Company, teller at Bank of American Fork, accounting secretary at Mountain States Telephone and General Motors. She also spent one year working for the government govern-ment in Virginia. She is actively serving her church and community. com-munity. Mrs. McFarlane has worked five years on the Pageant of the Arts and has been Utah County chairperson of the American Cancer Society. In her church she has held numerous leadership positions. Active in her professional organizations, she was a member of Utah County Institute of Banking and Utah County Board of Health. As a member of National Association of Educational Office Personnel, Per-sonnel, she has attended conventions and served where needed. She has served a president of the Board of Directors of Alpine Credit Union, President of the Utah State Educational Secretaries and President of Alpine Educational Secretaries and also as President of 'Timp Valley' Chapter National Secretaries Associations. Dorothy and her husband, Byron, have traveled extensively. They have traveled to Asia, Novia Scotia, Newfoundland, all the Providences of Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii and forty-six of the fifty states in the United States, and this summer will travel to seven European countries. Her hobbies and interests, in addition to travel, include: playing the organ, golfing, swimming and riding horses. She likes to keep busy. In addition, she does oil painting. Dorothy and Byron live in American Fork. They have a son, L. Clarke McFarlane and a daughter-in-law, Shawnee R. McFarlane. |
