Show Girls League In 2nd Half The Girls Elementary leagues has now begun its second half and is winding down toward their tourney. Last Saturday began with a real bang as the Orange Thunderbirds slipped past the Yellow Firebombs 22-21 in overtime. The T Birds jumped out to a quick 1st quarter lead of 18-4 but good defense and a sustained sus-tained scoring drive by the bombs helped bring them back to tie the game with less than a minut left. Julie Fenton led the T-birds with 12 and Cheryl Young added add-ed 8. The Bombs high scorer wa Debbie , Fisher with 8 and Dana Baum with 4. The second game mathced up the Green Machine and the Blue Devils with the Machine winning 22-10. Heidi Bylund scored 8 and Kaylunn Clement added 6 to pace the Machine to the win. Lisa Hall scored 6 for the Devils. The last game was between the Red Hots and the Blue Falcons with the Red Hots on top 45-13. Melinda Pymm scored 6, and Brenda Neilsen scored 5 for the Falcons. The Red Hots, now the only undefeated team, were led by Lila Fugal with 18 and Jill West with 17. At the end of 3 weeks play, the standings are: Red Hots 3-0, Yellow Firebombs 2-1, Orange Thunderbirds 2-1, Blue Falcons 1-2. Green Machine 1-2. Blue Devils 3-0. Individual scoring for the league is led by Lila Fugal with 50 points and Jill West with 35, followed by Julie Fenton and Cheryl Young both with 26. |
