Show THURSDAY, NOVEMBER , 1979 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1 ,J979 Cadmus Club Tours Osmond Studio Oct. 24 Cadmus club members spent a delightful evening Oct 24th as they were given the red carpet treat-ment on a tour of the Osmond Studio. June Monson Pres-ident of the Club welcomed the members prior to their going to the Studio. Of interest to allmembers was the annoucement that member Afton Atkin-son would be leaving for a mission in December. On arriving at the Os-mond Studio members were introduced to William L. Critchfield, Pres. of the Osmond Corp. Mr. Critchfield conducted the tour. He has been a friend for many years to Beatrice Hayes and her husband Spence. Beatrice is a member of Cadmus Education committe and had made ar-rangements for this most informative and interesting evening. After being shown through the Studio and hearing many in-teresting things the 24 members returned to the lovely home of Hostess Catherine Rees where they enjoyed visiting and were serv-ed refreshments by Catherine and Ora Thorne, and Rena Friant. Elysium Club Holds Oct. Monthly Meeting on 24th "Walk in Beauty" was the theme of the monthly meeting of the Elysium Club held Oct. 25. Twenty members met at the home of Rugh Peterson of Pleasan Grove. Marilyn Bas-tia-of the "Walk in Beauty" program in Provo was the guest speaker. "How to be a Lovelier You" was discussed and a demonstration of proper skin care was given with Pauline Jar-vi- s as the model. for the evening were Joan Flinders and Pauline Jarvis, who served a light salad and punch. New officers of the Elysium Club this year are Vicki Young, presi-dent; Gay Allredge, vice president; Darla Smith, recording secretary; Pauline Jar-vis- , treasurer; Joan Merrill, program chair-man; Necia Doty, reporter; Karen Albrecht, courtesy and Sharon Fullmer, project chairman. Society 75th BIRTHDAY Althea Ferrell Beagley Althea Ferrell Beagley Sets Birthday Party On Saturday, November 3, relatives and friends will e the 75th birth-day of Althea Ferrell Beagley. She was born November 4, 1904 in Mt. View, Alberta, Canada; the third child of James Scobey and Rebecca Kilgrow Fer-rell. Althea is the mother and friend to her nine sons and three daughters; 120 grand-children, and 24 great-grandchildren. Five sons have filled missons for the LDS Churc h. Althea has served as Relief Society president and has serv-ed in many other capacities for her belov-ed church. She is an ex-ample to her children and all who have know her. She owned and operated the Ferrell Nursing Home in Orem where she gave tender care to the elderly residents for twenty years. All who wish are in-vited to call on her at an open house given by her son David Beagley on November 3, Satur-day, at 245 West 725 North, in Lindon from 3 to 5 p.m. Eagles to Hold Special Family Dinner Sunday November 4 The Fraternal Order of Eagles Pleasant Grove Aeire 3372 will hold a special family dinner Sunday November 4th, in the Aerie home. The event will include a Bazaar, and a pro-gram which will be presented by Eagle members and their children. Chairman: Helen Hall reports this event has been titled "Home and Family Day" the events will start at 3 p.m. Ladies of the auxiliary are asked to donate items for the Bazaar, all proceeds from this event will go towards .Christmas Charities, all Eagle members are urged to attend to support this much needed project. There wil be a minimum fee for the dinner, members may bring their family and friends. ft . pp M Mike Barnett and Elaine Barrett Elaine Barrets Sets Date With Mike Barrett Dr. and Mrs. Doyle Barrett are pleased to announce the engage-ment and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Elaine to Mike Barnett, son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Barnett of Newark, California. The marriage will be solemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple on Monday, Dec. 17, 1979. The bride-to-b- e is at-tending school, and plans to further her education in nursing at the Community College in Corvallis, Oregon. The prospective bridegroom is in his senior year at Oregon State College. He is in the R.O.T.C. and will receive his commission in June. Garden Club Holds Oct. Meeting at Rec. Center The Pleasant Grove Garden Club held their October meeting on Oct. 25 at the Recrea-tion Center. President Moya Told conducted. President Told gave a brief report on the state meeting held Oct. 20 at Garden Center in Salt Lake. Information received was changing of All garden clubs in the state are to encourage organizing Junior and Senior High School garden clubs. This year is the 58th anniversary of National Garden Club. Attending the meeting in Salt Lake from the local club were Mrs. Told, Debbie Ragan, Mary Southey and Alice Simper. There was a flower show judging school held in September at the Garden Center in Salt Lake. Four club members from Pleasant Grove attended. They were Debbie Ragan, Joan Lewis, Mary Southey and Moya Told. Alice Adamson showed a film entitled "Conserving Our En-vironment as Pollution Increases." The film showed many ways in which we can conserve our lands and natural resources and help stop pollution. It was very interesting to those in attendance. Tables were decorated with autumn flowers and fruits. Hostesses for the meeting were Regula Holdaway and Moya Told. Apple cider and doughnuts were served to the following: Fern Harris, Velma Gillman. Fern Radmall, Alice Adamson, Moya Told, Regula Holdaway, Claudie Brown, Lurena War-nick- , Jrene Sowers, Mary Shoell, Eva Reynolds, Ellen Pack and Debbie Ragan. Manila Ward Holding Harvest Ball on Friday Manila 3rd Ward is having their "Harvest Festival" on November 2nd from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Manila Ward Cultural Hall. There will be a varie-ty of foods to eat and a bake sale. There will be many quilts, hand-made household items, clothing, stuffed toys, home decorations and Christmas gifts and decorations for sale. Everyone is invited. Aluminum Recycling Efforts Are Climbing Aluminum recycling efforts continued to climb in Utah during August with the public bringin gin over 262,000 pounds of the light metal to Reynolds Aluminum Recycling Company. In Provo, where Reynolds brings a recycling unit every Friday to Albertson's 560 West Center, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. the company pays 23 cents a pound, plus a one-ce-per pound bonus, for a total of 24 cents for all alluminum beverage cans. Oct. 26, a boy to Robert and Nancy Lenhart Oscarson. Oct. 29, a boy to Daniel and Sheryl Campbell Fuller. Pleasant Grove Drama Dept. Presents Dinner Theatre Nov. 8, 9, 10 Pleasant Grove High School Drama Depart-ment, under the direc-tion of Mr. Van Bulkley, will present a dinner theatre November 8, 9, and 10. Julie Jenkins is the stu-dent director for the performance. A full course dinner, roast beef and the trim-mings, can be enjoyed before viewing excerpts from Camelot, Sounds of Music, My Fair Lady, and Oliver. Din-ner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:45 p.m. Performers in the broadway excerpts will be Micki Fisher, David Jolley, Kathy Pratt, Linda Baisden, Kurt Walker, Dan Debenham, Marnae Taylor, Leslie Jenkins, Debbie Batty, Tonya Elliott, Mike Young, Delmar Hughes, Boyd Hall, Dave Fullmer, Sherri Hayworth, Kathy Parker, and Sherri Stengel. Music accompanists are Micki Fisher, Delmar Hughes, Nathan Brown and Julie Jenkins. Tickets for the dinner and show is $4.00 and $3.50. Cost for the show only is $1.50.
