Show Firefighters from throughout Utah Will Get Instruction leading into the activities of the seminar. Speakers for the rest of the seminar through Friday will include: Dave Pingree, assistant state fire marshal, and Dawn Callister, secretary, Utah State Fire Marshal's office, "Data Collection Why and How"; William Barrett, assistant Utah State attorney general, "Fire Fighter and the Law"; remarks by David McCor-mack, McCor-mack, superintendent, National Fire Academy for Fire Prevention and Control; Alan V. Brunacini, assistant chief of the Phoenix Fire Department, "Fire Fighting Principles"; Evelyn Draper, director, paramedic training, Weber College, "Paramedics and the Fire Service"; Gordon Gor-don Evans, director of state fire training for Utah Technical College at Provo, "Explanation of Training Schedule"; William Lukens, deputy fire marshal of the Utah State Fire Marshal's office, of-fice, "Smoke Detectors Can Save Your Life"; Dr. Dee Martin, vice president of Utah Tech, summary of seminar; and Dr. Roger H. Plothow, director of continuing con-tinuing education at Utah Tech, seminar evaluation. Actual training in fire prevention, control and arson investigation will take place during the seminar under direction of the various experts. Firefighters from throughout Utah will undergo un-dergo three days of intensive instruction and training from top experts in the state and nation this week at the eleventh annual Utah Life Safety and Fire Prevention Seminar in Salt Lake City. The seminar will be held at Salt Lake's Rodeway Inn, 154 West 6th South, this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 13, 14, and 15. Sponsors are Utah . Technical College at Provo and Orem, which conducts a firemen training program throughout the state, and the Utah State Fire Marshal, Utah State Fire Chief's Association and the Utah State Firemen Association. Leading out-of-state experts exper-ts at the seminar will include David McCormack, Washington D. C, superintendent superin-tendent of the National Fire Academy for Fire Prevention and Control, and Alan V. Brunacini, assistant chief of the Phoenix, Ariz, fire department. depar-tment. They will be joined by top Utah fire officials and legal experts dealing with the various phases of fire fighting, prevention and arson ar-son investigation. Governor Scott M. Matheson will keynote the seminar Wednesday morning, following call to order at 9 a.m. by Salt Lake City Fire Chief Evan L. Baker. Utah Tech President Wilson W. Sorensen will make remarks |
