Show - 1 ?-?yy !it. . PAUL C. RICHARDS Promoted at 'Y' Paul C. Richards Named Director, BYU Programs Paul C. Richards of the Office of Public Communications at Brigham Young University has been named director of University Programs, according ac-cording to an announcement Friday by Bruce L. Olsen, assistant to the president -University Relations. Mr. Richards assumes a post held by Robert H. Fitch who resigned to become a partner in a family business in southern California. The University Programs office coordinates booking, scheduling, publicity, and management for all off-campus tours and appearances by BYU performing groups. Some 770 BYU students appeared in 381 performances booked by the University Programs office last year, Mr. Olsen said. The total live audience count for these performances per-formances was more than 383,000 persons. In addition, several of the groups appeared on television programs which reached potential audiences totaling 92 million people in the United States, South America, and Europe. Mr. Richards has been employed at BYU in 1971 and has been serving as a writer-editor writer-editor in the Public Communications Com-munications office and as executive editor for "Y News," BYU's employee publication. The California native obtained ob-tained his bachelor's and master's degree at BYU and has taught in the LDS seminary system. During his college career, he was editor of the Daily Universe, student newspaper at BYU, and worked for Associated Press and the Salt Lake Tribune. Aftrer graduation, Mr. Richards obtained an internship with the San Diego Union in San Diego, Calif., and later worked as a technical editor and a magazine editor in the engineering and construction fields. He was a staff writer with the Deseret News before joining the BYU administrative staff. Mr. Richards and his wife Nina live in Pleasant Grove. They have five children. He serves as president of the BYU 36th Branch and served a mission to West Germany. |
