Show Veterans Invited to Meeting All vetrans of this area are invited to a special meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Provo for the formation of Mountainlands Veterans Civic -Council, according to Bliss Nisonger, acting chairman of tentative organization recently formed until permanent per-manent officers can be chosen. Mr. Nisonger, who is also director of the veterans program of Utah Technical College at Provo, said the meeting will be held at the Veteran s Center, 284 Fast 100 North, and emphasized that any veteran is welcome. Families are also welcomed, he said, and refreshments will be served. Purpose of the new Mountainlands Moun-tainlands Veterans Civic council will be generally to inform and assist eligible veterans w ith their problems in three counties. Utah. Wasatch, and Summit, "In the past, many of the available benefits to veterans have been lost merely through misinformation or failure to apply for them before the expiration ex-piration dale. Some benefits available include G.l. education, home and trailer loans, G.l. insurance, unemployment unem-ployment compensation, employment, five to 10 percent preference lor civil service jobs, and alcohol and drug treatment. Information on these benefits and others will be discussed at the meeting ednesday night." All such advice and information in-formation on veterans benefits will be absolutely free, Mr. Nisonger emphasized, as will any services which the new Mountainlands Veterans Civic Council may be able to render. |
