The industry employs hundreds of thousands of people, distributes dividends to many share-holders absorbs, directly and indirectly, indirect-ly, the products, of other industries. the past,, attempted to saddle mining with unfair and. exorbitant exorbi-tant tax burdens. A battle lias been recently fought in Utah between be-tween proponents of a fair taxation taxa-tion for all industries and those who would increase mine Saxes to Ihe point where successful operation opera-tion would be impossible. Apparently Ap-parently the result will be a victory vic-tory fo rthe mines and a fair tax rate that will allow the industry to progress a!nd prosper.
