Show State Forester's Office Offers Free Tree Seedlings The State Forester's office is offering tree seedlings for conservation purposes to private pri-vate individuals and groups. The seedlings will be shipped ship-ped during April and May. The plants must be ordered in lots of 100 per species and cannot be used for ornamental or landscaping purposes. Cost is $8 per 100 plants. The Forester's office has sold 235,000 plants to date, with 215,000 still available. Seedlings include nine species of hardwood and six species of conifers. There are large numbers of black locust, Russian Rus-sian olive, ash, golden willow and an improved hybrid poplar. pop-lar. Conifers in large numbers include Austrian pine, Scotch pine, Ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine, and eastern red cedar. Persons wanting seedlings this spring should place their order immediately. Order forms are available at the Forester's office, 1596 West North Temple Tem-ple in Salt Lake City; Soil Conservation Con-servation District Committeemen Committee-men offices ASCO SCS offices, National Forest Service; Bureau Bur-eau of Land Management, and Extension Offices. |
