Show Guard Launches New Campaign for Support Salt Lake City, (UTARNG) The Utah National Guard is launching a campaign to encourage en-courage better understanding of the National Guard role among Utah's employers and the public according to Maurice Maur-ice L. Watts, Adjutant General of Utah. National Guard Community Support Week is slated for February 18 thru 23rd. A proclamation proc-lamation signed by Governor Calvin Rampton will declare the week official and several Mayors around the state have issued proclamations soliciting the support of citizens and employers em-ployers to note the significant contributions of Utah Guardsmen. Guards-men. Highlights of the week will be February 21st when in commemoration com-memoration with the birthdate of George Washington, the nations na-tions first minuteman, Utah Guardsman will be asked to wear their uniform to work (or school) to give the public an idea of how many citzens serve in the National Guard. A banquet, co-sponsored by the Honorary Colonels of Utah and the Utah National Guard wil be held on the evening of the 21st, This banquet is to honor those citizens of Utah who have made significant contributions con-tributions of service to the State, Nation, and Community. Major General Francis S. Greenlief, Chief of the National Nation-al Guard Bureau will be the speaker at the banquet. Each year the Utah Guard sponsors or participates in community support projects. Last year the Bantam Basket- ; ball program, which is a statewide state-wide program, had 2,754 boys ! playing in basketball in the ! armories across the state. ! i A Veteran's Day Concert featuring the combined chor- j uses of the Granite School i District and the Utah National ! Road constru- 1 ction in the Fillmore area for the Forest Service, construction of a road and parking area in the Fillmore city park, and rerouting re-routing a road for the Boy Scouts camp near Nephi.
