Show THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 1973 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH TUHRSDAY, JANUARY 25, 1973 Club Building Progress Through the untiring efforts of the Sportsmen and Lions, the Community Service building is progressing. . The dining area and kitchen facilities are com-plete and ready for use. The large 1,800 sq. ft. ball-room is nearing completion and the ceiling is sprayed and light fixtures hung. Laying of the hardwood floor has taken many hours of work but is vir-tually completed. The building committee are gratified with the progress being made. The spacious fireplace which will adorn the south wall is in the planning stage and it is hoped that the stone can be started soon. Sportsmen and Lions express their gratitude to the citizens who supported the Barbershop Harmony show. The proceeds will go to help complete the building. The two clubs invite everyone to come and inspect this fine addition to our com-munity at 6th East and Center Streets. District Governor Lloyd Winvvard Speaks to Local Lions Club at Annual Governor's Night Meeting District Governor Lloyd Win-war- d of District 28-- Lions International, left an inspiring' message with the Lions and their ladies and guests at the annual Governors night at the Pleasant Grove Lions Club. Pointing out that there is need for service in every com-munity large or small, through-out the world, District Govern-or Winward related how Lion-is-flourishes wherever men have the free agency to serve, and Lionism and liberty go to-gether. Lions are. leaders in community service throughout the world where men are free to serve. The large group of Lions, la-dies and guests filled the din-ing room of the Sportsmen and Lions Building to near capac-ity. All were thrilled with the reports of the members of the District Cabinet. Cabinet Secretary Lowell Wardel, Dept. Dist. Gov. Henry Campbell, Zone B Chairman Dale Peterson, Zone A chair-man Daryl Huish and Stanley Johnson, Interlations relations and exchange student chair-man were among the Lions re-presenting the district cabinet. Other guests were JVar Gill-ma- n and James Durrant of the Lindon Lions Club, and the la-dies of all of the Lions. A report showed that 754 citizens of North Utah County took advantage of the sight conservation and Glaucoma screening clinic held recently at Am. Fork. This clinic was sponsored by Lions from the clubs in Zone A. Governor Winward and the other guests praised the Sports-men and Lions highly for pro-viding the community service building and were amazed at the size of the facilities. Bank of American Fork Reports Successful Year Orville Gunther, president of Bank of American Fork report-ed at the annual stockholders meeting that the bank had com-pleted the most successful year in its 59 year history. A record breaking growth was noted in deposits, loans and total resources. Mr. Gunther's remarks were made in an informal report to the stockholders and included an interesting comparison in their 1970-7- 1 and 1972 figures for loans, deposits and total resources. Mr. Gunther indicated that in 1970 the Bank of American Fork had loans totaling almost 7l2 million, in 1971 the loans totaled 8,716,000 compared with 1972 with loans totaling over $10 million. Deposits also have shown a dramatic increase. 1970 depos-its were $12,751,000, 1971 they were $13,293,000 and in 1972 $16,232,000. This was a gain of $3,480,000 for 1972. Total resuroces have stead-ily climbed from $12 million in 1970 to $17,750,000 in 1972. Mr. Gunther stated that 1972 was an outstanding growth year for 'the bank. He said that the bank has paid out nearly l2 million dollars in interest to their savings customers, which is helping to foster the economy of our community, with helping the bank's good friends and customers to save for the future, buy new homes, remodel, or take a well-deserve- d vacation. "To help give our customers a finer place to do business," Mr. Gunther said, "we have nearly completed an extensive remodeling and expansion pro-gram which will provide ex-tra convenience and provide for growth for many years to come." Mr. Gunther also an-nounced that after many years of delay, a state charter for a branch bank in Alpine has been granted. The construction of this modern banking facility will begin in the spring. Mr. Gunther said that he and his employees express their ap-preciation to their growing family of customers and pledge their continued efforts to main-tain leadership in our service area." n KEEP CHILD RESISTANT t" lj CONTAINERS CHILD RESISTANT 2.
