Show 1972 Will Prove Favorable Year for Waterfowl in Utah and Other Areas Air and ground surveys indicate in-dicate most duck populations in Utah and other waterfowl areas in the United States and Canada appear about the same as in 1971, which was considered consid-ered a relatively good production produc-tion year. Temperatures were moderate and the nesting season seas-on was earlier than usual. Exceptions to the generally diagnosis were reported in southern Alberta and west central cen-tral Sasatchewan important breeding areas which became dry from lack of rain. Wet conditions con-ditions suitable for nesting and rearing prevailed in western Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana. A summer survey revealed water conditions and probable size of the 1972 hatch. This, with the nesting area survey, provide basic data upon which the nation's fall waterfowl hunting regulations were based Utah's fall duck season runs from October 7 through January Jan-uary 7, 1973. Goose hunters will begin a week later for an October 14 through Decmber 17 season, except in Gaggett and Uintah counties where the season begin November 25. Carbon County and part of Emery county are closed to goose huting in 1972. |
