P. shop mates arc building 750 freight cars, and that's not the half of it. The 750 cars that Vic Hoffman is working on in Portland are actually less than a third of it, "it" being our total order for rolling stock this year. If Vic Hoffman hooked the cars he's building onto all the others we're buying, the "train" would be 23 miles long. It would have 100 new locomotives, 2,287 freight cars, loaded with accessories. Our total sticker price ran into the millions, which we pay so much down and so much a month. We hope to get the money back by hauling things for people. So if you have anything that needs hauling, we can handle it. Soph Football Team Drops Uintah 56 to 8 With eight different players scoring and all 47 boys play-ing the young Sophomore Vik-ings roared to a 56-- 8 victory over a big but defenseless Uin-tah team last Thursday. Dale Wright started the lights blinking on the P.G. scoreboard with a 25 yard run on an inside reverse. Ron Moosman passed to Kale Gill-ma- n for the two point conver-sion. The Vikings scored one min-ute later when Ron Moosman found Kaylon Whiteley all al-one for a 30-y- scoring pass. Randi Story turned the left end for the two points and the Vikes led 16-- 0 early in the first quarter. Wright made it 22-- 0 with a nice run behind a trap block by Kay Swensen. In the second quarter Moos-man passed to Randy Story for a touchdown, Whitely scored another and John Goodman kicked two extra points to run the score to 36-- 0 at the half. The Vikes took the second half kickoff and drove down het field where Murdock went in from the one-yar- d line. Moments later Bruce Lundell blocked a Uintah punt, caught the ball and ran eight yards into the end zone. Robin Rob-inson passed to Gillman for the two points and the score stood at 50-0- . Uintah scored in the fourth got two points on the attempt to make it P.G. 50 and Uintah 8 The second unit Viking of-fense came right back with Robinson passing to Brent Smith who ran down the side-line for a 40-yar- d touchdown. The Viking defense was fired up and everybody played with enthusiasm. Today's game at Payson will be a much harder contest, and the Vikes will have to play very well to beat the young Lions. Al-so thanks to the parents, fam-ilies and friends of the mem-bers of these three fine teams, the Vikings, the Steelers and the Eagles. Without all of you this league could not exist. The A.F. Colts took com-mand at the opening kickoff ami never relinquished it. They pushed the Lehi Giants all ov-er the field to win the playoff 25 0. The Colts will be honor-ed with a banquet at the Al-pine Country Club. It's a din-ner for the champions, and is closed to the public. They will hear speeches from llj'j three local high school coaches and from one of the U of U coaches. As a closing ceremony, the players will be awarded their Jerseys as a tro-phy or momento of their championship year. In other games last week the Giants won their way into the championship game by staving off a late Steeler charge, to win the tie-o- ff game 18-1- The Steelers had beaten the Giants earlier (last Saturday), 7-- 6, to tie with them after regular !season play. The P.G. Vikings lost their chance for the championship playoffs when they were tied by the A.F. Redskins 12-1- 2. The Vikings and Steelers went at it for third place last Saturday. Not to take anything away from either team,, be-cause the Vikings were the best team last Saturday, but it was the third game in 8 days for the Steelers and the Vik-ings had a 10-da- y rest. However, the Vikings played the best ball game and had their own way most of the time. The score was 27-1- 4. The Vikings looked like they were league champions.
