They were directed by Alan March-bank- s, counselor in the Lindon Second Ward bishopric. Speakers at the services were Verl Kirk and Bishop Nyle Harris. Musical numbers included a piano solo by Donna Gillman and a vocal duet by Inez Marchbanks and Lois Wright, accompanied by Donna Gill-ma- Invocation was given by Du-ain- e F. Williams, and benedic-tion by John Gillman. .Dedica-tion of the grave in the Pleas-ant Grove City Cemetery was by Alma Hansen. Pallbearers were Tom Will-iams, Kal Hansen, Don Gillies, Lon Hooley, Lloyd Hansen, and Gene Hansen. Zelmer Aston was born Oct. 16, 1896 in Pleasant Grove, a son of Edwin and Emily Ann Keetch Aston. He never mar-ried. He was a retired farmer and a Veteran of World War I. He was a member of the LDS Church, living in the Lin-don Second Ward. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Martha Ella Williams, of Orem. Class of '27 Holds 45th Reunion On September 2 The class of 1927 of Pleas-ant Grove High School held its' 45th reunion at the Alpine County Club Saturday after-noon and evening, September 2, 1972. Owen D. West was the chairman for the occasion. A total of sixty-si- x were in attendance which was the largest group in attendance since graduation. Dinner music was provided by a group of profesionals, who played favorite melodies of the late 20's and early 30's. The meal was excellent. A fine program was presented with Dr. Boyd Nelson doing a superb job as master of cere-monies. Teachers in attendance were Eleroy West and S. A. Kirk. Estelle Fenton planned to be there but illness prevented. The class sent her a fioral tri-bute. This was the first time she had missed this class re-union. Roy Oscarson, class presi-dent made the motion that a 50th reunion be held in 1977, and a motion was made that this come to pass. By ac-clamation Boyd Nelson was voted chairman for the Golden Reunion celebration. Out-of-sta- members came from New Jersey, Calgary, Canada, California, St. Louis, Mo., Nevada, Idaho, and Den-ver, Colorado. Only 3 mem-bers of the original group are deceased. A very enjoyable time was had by all. Eva West, reporter Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Steven Aston Funeral services for Steven Aston, 22, were held Wednes-day, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. in the Lindon Ward Chapel. They were conducted by Alan Marchbanks, a counselor in the Lindon Second Ward bish-opric. Mr. Aston died Sunday at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City of a kidney disease. Speakers at the services were Joseph Swenson and Fred Hoffman. A poem was read by Gerald Gaylor. Musical numbers were given by Audra Hooley and Annie Smith, accompanied by LaDean Gillman, and Alwyn Biggs, ac-companied by Mrs. Gillman. Family prayer, invocation and benediction were given by George Clark, Lowell Gillman and Bishop Nyle Harris, re-spectively. John Street dedica-ted the grave in the Timpan-ogo- s Memorial Gardens, Orem Pallbearers were Randy Phil-lips, Eddie Kearley, Lynn Jol-le- y, Ron Chadsey, Jim Chad-se- y, Kenny Carter, and Kenny Evans. Dennis Hansen and Al Hardman were honorary pall-bearers. Steven T. Aston was born Aug. 26, 1950 in Lindon, a son of Theo S. and Nellie Ilene Fowler Aston. He married Bon-nie Peels Nov. 31, 1969 in Pleasant Grove. They were lat-er divorced. He was employed at Lehi General Refractories. He was a member of the LDS Church. He had graduated from the Pleasant Grove High School, and had attended Utah Tech-nical College at Provo. Survivors include his par-ents, Lindon, one daughter, brothers and four sisters, Clin-Amb- er Kay Aston, Orem; two ton James, U.S. Marines, San Diego; Mrs. Frank (Linda) Rowe, Tooele; David, Cheryl, Teresa, and Michelle Aston, all of Lindon; grandparents, Mrs. May Aston, Lindon and Earl Fowler, Sr., Myton. HOSPITAL NEWS Among babies born at the American Fork Hospital dur-ing last week, ending Saturday Sept. 10, were the following to parents from the Pleasant Grove area: Sept. 6, a boy to Dale and Karen Kirkham Ekins. Other patients at the hos-pital from this area during the week included Verna Hardman Dawna Randall, Lamar Scott, Dennis Carter, Shantel Lewis, Margery Lundell, Leslie Hay-ni- e, Dale Fox, Kent Gines and Mary Ellen Christofferson. |
