View Bank The board of directors of the Mountain View Bank, an inde-pendent locally owned bank, soon to be located at 205 East Main in American Fork, are happy to announce the election of Harold W. Anderson as the executive vice president and administrative officer. Mr. Anderson is a life-lon- g resident of American Fork, the youngest son of Millie T. An-derson and the late Warren F. Anderson. He married Dona Grant of Copperton, Bingham Canyon, Dec. 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have four children and one foster son, in the Indian Placement Pro-gram. . He has 29 years of banking experience. He is a graduate of the American Fork High School and attended the BYU, along with the qualifying courses in the American Institute of Bank-ing, and in 1969 graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School, at Seattle, Washington. Mr. Anderson is presently serving as a member of the American Fork City Council, and for the past year and a half, acted as Mayor pro-tem- . He is also currently serving in the superintendency of the Sun-day School of the American Fork Ninth Ward of Alpine Stake. Other positions held by Mr. Anderson include past president of the local Chamber of Commerce, past president of Utah County Bankers Associa-tion, and past president of the Utah County Chapter A.I.B. Mr. Anderson is looking for- - ward to a mid-Octob- open-ing of the new bank so that he might be of service to his many friends in the area. : ! Cascade Springs Road Closed For Improvement as of Monday . UINTA NATIONAL FOREST The Cascade Springs Scenic Drive from the Alpin Scenic Loop in American Fork-Prov- o Canyons to the Cascade Springs special interest area was clos-ed for upgrading Monday, July 26, Stephen M. Rushton, forest ranger said. The closure will remain in effect until about Sept. 15. Ran-- ger Rushton noted that after priming work on the road is completed about Aug. 6, the road may be opened on week-ends. Also the Vi mile of the road that connects the scenic drive with the Wasatch State Park loop will not be affected by the construction except for two or three days on two different intervals." The ranger urged visitors de-siring to go to Cascade Springs to check with the U.S. Forest Ranger station in Pleasant Grove, the U.S. Forest super-visors office in Provo, or Was-atch State Park officials to as-certain current road conditions. Schocker Construction Co. of Salt Lake City is general con-tractor for the $275,000 con-struction project. Included in the contract is paving the 6V2 mile gravel road, the auto look-out located miles above the Springs, and the Cascade Springs parking lot. The scenic drive begins near the summit of the Alpine Scen-ic Loop and travels down the south fork of Deer Creek, ter-minating at Cascade Springs. The area may still be reached by traveling over Decker Pass road which runs through Was-atch State Park to 3 be-tween Midway and Charleston or over the Snake Creek road, both in the park area. Mr. Rushton noted that there will be some heavy truck traf-fic over the Decker Pass road during construction, however. He has filled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- -day Saints in New Zealand. Following their marriage, the couple will make their home in Bettendorf, Iowa, where Richard has a temporary as-signment for his employer, the Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. Jessie Mart Goes To Colorado For Workshop Mrs. Jessie F. Mart, L.P.N., of Pleasant Grove, Utah, at-tended a workshop at Colorado State University last week by CSU and the Na-tional Association for Practical Nurse Education and Service. Mrs. Mart is affiliated with Licensed Practical Nurse Assn. of Utah through the local LPN Assn. Dist. No. 1 and is em-ployed at the American Fork Hospital as a staff nurse. In the five-da- y program on "The Reality of Nursing," the LPNs studied how to develop effective interpersonal rela-tionships and communications. Instructors were members of Golden Keys Hold the CSU faculty. .. Annual Steak Fry Fun, laughter and good food was on the agenda for the members of the Golden Keys Friday night. Members and their husbands gathered in the beautiful, cool backyard of the George and Jayne Smith fam-ily of Orem, for their annual summer steak fry. Everyone barbecued their own steaks to their own vary-ing taste and served themselv-es to all the delicious trim-mings, including hot sourdough scones. A very enjoyable evening was spent visiting and eating and the evening climaxed with a robust game of volleyball, after which ice cream was ser-ved. Those in attendance were Lil-lian and Jerry Wadley, Leone and Don Rutledge, Betty and Paul Whiteley, Karen and Vir-gil Albrecht, Loretta Carter, Carol Adamson and the host and hostess, George and Jayne Smith. Plans were discussed for the members and their families party to be held in August. Mutual Interest Group Holds Dance Saturday Charles Adams, dance direc-tor for the Mutual Interest group, invites all elegible LDS people to come out to the reg-ular Saturday night dances, 9 p.m. each Saturday night in the Lindon Ward Cultural Hall. To be eligible to join in the activities you must be 23 years of age, or older, single, widow-ed or divorced. The LDS Mutual Interest group also have other activities such as firesides, Sacrament meetings, and speakers at the functions. They also plan oth-er outings and activities during the year. |
