Show Vikings Play at Home . . . LEHI DROPS VIKES. CARBON FRIDAY The Lehi Pioneers blanked the Pleasant Grove Vikings 8-0 in a Region Four football game played last Friday afternoon on the Pleasant Grove turf. It was the season's opener for both teams. The game was pretty much of a defensive contest with neither nei-ther team being able to mount much of a sustained drive. Most of the drives petered out via mistakes or lack of push when it counted. The scoring by Lehi, what there was of it, came in the second quarter. Lehi's quarterback, quarter-back, Kim Cooper, went 5 yards on a keeper, to score. The extra point failed but the Pioneers Pio-neers gained the other two points via a safety. Best for the Pioneers were Cooper, Wilson, Haskell, Innes and McStay. Playing good ball for the Vikings Vik-ings were Sanderson, Bennett, Brock and Meranda. In other Region Four games also played last Friday, Pay-son, Pay-son, last year's champions, blanked Springville 27-0; Spanish Span-ish Fork surprised Orem 14-14 and American Fork whitewashed whitewash-ed Uintah 52-0. Tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 4, at 3 p.m. the Vikings meet the Carbon High School Dinosaurs It's another home game for Pleasant Grove. |
