DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR UTAH COUNTY SHERIFF ; As Chief of Police of Provo for the past 14 years, I have operated one of the best organized and efficient Police Departments in Utah County. I now want the oppor-tunity to do the same for the Utah County Sheriff's De-partment, have a firm conviction that good law enforce-ment cannot be tainted with politics. The unincorporated areas of Utah County should receive the same quality of protection as the cities provide. It is the responsibility of the sheriff's office to provide that protection. I am concerned about the ever increasing crime and drug problem among our youth. We must strengthen law enforcement in our county if we intend to control this crime problem. I have always worked in close cooperation with all law enforcement agencies, particulary within this county. If elected Sheriff I pledge to strengthen my ties 'c with Chiefs of Police in this county. There is greater strength wherethere is complete cooperation. The rising crime rate in the United States should make up realize that good law enforcement is most essen-tial to the citizens of this county. I believe in crime prevenion and have geared my law enforcement program to that end. Thoughout my police career I have always maintain-ed an "open door" policy, so that people may meet and discuss mutual problems with me. If elected Sheriff, this policy will remain in effect. Law enforcement is a demanding profession and those directing the enforcement agencies must bring organi- zational abilities and dedication to the job. This I offer to you the citizens of Utah County. Served an enlistment with Hi United State Army. 30 years experience with Provo City Police Deportment.
