S A L ; 1 MISS MELISSA PATCH MISS LINDA EWELL MISS MARCIA DEVERAUX MISS DEON BEVERIDGE Twelve Lovely Girls Have Entered The "Strawberry Queen" Contest Patch of Lindon and a senior at Pleasant Grove High School. At school she is president of the Big and Little Sisters Club, senior class cheerleader and has been a member of the color col-or guard, a junior varsity cheerleader and a Girl's Stater She has had professional training in modeling and has received a special award in poise and appearance in the 1970 PL Grove Junior Miss Pageant, at which time she was named first attendant. She is the sixth in a family of nine children and enjoys being be-ing with small children. The Felishan Club will sponsor spon-sor Melissa and her talent demonstration dem-onstration is still undecided. The four listed this week are Marcia Deveraux, Deon Bev-eridge, Bev-eridge, Melissa Patch and Linda Lin-da Ewell. Marcia Deveraux is a secretary secre-tary in the engineering department depart-ment at Eimco Corporation in Salt Lake City and a 1969 graduate grad-uate of Pleasant Grove High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Deveraux. Dever-aux. While in high school she was a member of the GAA, FTA, and FHA, serving as club historian. his-torian. She was a sophomore class cheerleader and junior varsity cheerleader. She was also an honor student and a two-year member of the Vi-queens Vi-queens Pep Club. Active in the LDS Church, Marcia has served as Primary organist and choral director for the Sunday School. She has participated par-ticipated in road shows, music festivals and ward plays. She enjoys all sports, listing her favorites as skiing, cycling, and swimming. Her free time is spent sewing, cooking, reading, read-ing, singing and playing the pi-no pi-no and also writing poetry. The Pleasant Grove Lions Club wall sponsor Marcia. And, for her talent competition, she will present an original poem with background accompaniment. accompani-ment. Deon Beveridge Deon Beveridge is the 18-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Beveridge of Pleasant Grove. She is presently attending attend-ing the BYU and is employed at the Purple Turtle in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. She is sponsored by the Ac-cumenette Ac-cumenette Club and will present pre-sent a dance for her talent display. dis-play. In high school she was active in the Vi-Queens Pep Club and a four-year member of the GAA. For two years she was historian and member of the Future Teachers of America Club. She was a member of the 4-H Club for six years and enjoys en-joys raising flowers and working work-ing out of doors. Her favorite hobbies are working wor-king with small children, traveling trav-eling and reading. Deon is a member of the Pleasant Grove swimming team and has had special training in physical education. ed-ucation. After high school, Melissa plans to attend BYU, majoring in high school administration, and one day hopes to be a high school principal. Linda Ewell Linda Ewell is a senior at Pleasant Grove High School. She is the 18-year-old daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Ewell of Pleasant Grove and is sponsored by the Mt. Timp Riders. In school she has served as junior class secretary, member mem-ber of the Vi-Queens Pep Club, and was a Girl's Stater. She is presently active as a varsity cheerleader and a member of the GAA. Linda will also be a four-year graduate of the LDS Seminary program. She lists her special interests inter-ests as sewing, cooking, sports and hair styling. After graduation, gradu-ation, Linda plans to attend the Continental College of Beauty and train as a beautician. She plans to play the piano in the talent division of the competition. She is currently employed at the Polar King in Pleasant Grove. Tickets for the Strawberry Days Pageant are $1.00 and can be obtained from any of the contestants or from any Jaycee member. |
