Show ! STEVEN WALKER Gets Harvard Grant Steven C. Walker Awarded Grant From Harvard U. Steven C. Walker, outstanding outstand-ing local student and teacher, has been awarded the honored Harvard Grant, one of the top such awards in the nation. Steve graduated from the local lo-cal high school in 1960. He was an honor student and student-body student-body president. After fuHilling his army obligations and serving serv-ing as a Latter-day Saint missionary, mis-sionary, he took his bachelor degree at Brigham Young University Uni-versity and was honored with the top student award. He took his master's degree the following year and won graduate school award. For the past three years he has taught at BYU. The Harvard Award, a five year grant toward the doctorate doctor-ate degree, includes some $15,000 in tuition and fees with a comparable amount toward living expenses. Steve, the son of Jess and Elaine Walker, with his wife Ardith, the daughter of Reed and Mildred Walker, and their small son Scott, will make their home in Boston while he studies stud-ies for the doctorate in the field of languages. |
