Show Eagles Beat Steelers and Jordan Jets; Play for Championship Last Saturday the Pleasant Grove Eagles and the Lindon Steelers met in their annual battle. The Eagles pinned the seventh loss of the year on the Steelers, but not without a fight. The Steelers kicked off and the Eagles moved to the Steeler 29 yard line where a fumble stopped the drive. The Steelers moved to the Eagle 25 where on fourth down and 5 yards to go they tried a fake field goal. The Eagles stopped the play with a 10-yard loss. The Eagles then scored on three plays. Kevin Duvall up the middle, Chad Murdock a-round a-round right end and Wayne All-red All-red around left end for a 12-yard 12-yard touchdown. The first half ended with the Eagles leading 7-0. To start the second half the Eagles forced the Steelers to punt from their own end zone. The punt was into the wind and only carried to the 18. From there the Eagles moved in for another score with Allred scoring scor-ing on a 2-yard play. The Eagles recovered a Steeler Steel-er fumble on the Steeler 11-yard 11-yard line. Kraig Higginson had a touchdown called back because be-cause of a penalty and the Steelers held on the 5-yard line to take possession of the ball. The Steelers punted but the Eagles fumbled the catch and the Steelers recovered. Then the Eagles held again and this time they blocked the punt and got possession of the ball on the Steeler 9 yard line. Kraig Higginson Hig-ginson then scored to make it 19-0 for the Eagles. Gary Thornton passed to Greg Bean for 20 yards and a first down on the Eagles 35. Then Kerry Wood went around right end on a reverse play to score a 35-yard touchdown. The final score was 19-6. The win gave the Eagles a tie for second place with the Jordan Jets. In other game's, Saturday, the Jets beat the A.F. Bears 13-12 after being down 12-0 at half time. The Lehi Giants squeaked past the Lehi Packers 13-7 and the A.F. Colts remained undefeated unde-feated by getting a touchdown with one minute remaining, to edge past the A.F. Browns, 7-0. Monday evening the P.G. Eagles and the Jordan Jets met to settle the playoff berth. Both teams with 5 wins and 2 losses, were tied for econd place. In league play the runnerup plays the first place team, to determine deter-mine the official league champion. cham-pion. The Eagles scored the first time they got their hands on hte ball, and it got the momentum momen-tum going in their favor. Andy Ringger helped keep it in their favor as he picked off two interceptions. Wayne All-red All-red scored twice and Kraig Higginson Hig-ginson once as the Eagles won the playoff game 20-0. It was the fourth time this year that the Eagles have held their opponents scoreless. They played perfect football and cap-itilized cap-itilized on every mistake the Jets made.
