The game rang down the 1968 season sea-son for both teams. In other just for fun games, also played Feb. 28, Orem edged edg-ed Carbon 48-46; Spanish Fork laced Provo, 87-67; American Fork beat B.Y. High 76-71 and Payson waxed Springville, 82-67 82-67 for final Region Four play. In the Pioneer-Viking fade-out, fade-out, it was nip and tuck for the first frame, with the Pioneers Pio-neers getting the best of it by three points, 18-15. The second frame was a whing-ding. By the end of the first half, the Vikes were behind only one point, 32-33. However, after the rest period per-iod the Viking cause faltered and grew worse as the game became older. Scoring in double figures were three Pioneers, Peterson, 25; Hardman, 17 and Nielson, 12. Ditto for the Vikings were Mills 18, and Ringger, 12. It has been a fair season for all concerned. There have been some interesting and hard-fought hard-fought games. One thing is certain, cer-tain, that the decision to expand ex-pand the Region to 10 Class A teams was a wise one. The Vikings, their coaches, and the studentbody, should have no regrets, relative to how the season ended. |
