Show cooperation needed to insure success it if the farmers of this country really see their problem and get behind the present effort to solve that eliat problem we will win it if not WL ne must lose N C E dodd chairman of the oregon state conservation committee told utah farm ers in a recent series of meetings conducted under the auspices of the utah state agricultural col lege extension service 1 I hate to think what failure to solve sole the farm problem will mean to american agriculture mr dodd insisted pointing out that no one else will make any effort to solve bohe t the he farm problem except the farmer and that the success of t the h e program directly hinges binges on oil the co operation which rural people give under the now new farm act the ovation program goes goca on OIL almost the same as for the past two years icara mr dodd said there will be slight alight changes but payments will ft be on the same fundamental bases lasts either a shift from soil de plating to soll soil conserving crops on the farm land or the conduct of certain approved soil saying sa ing pral ices under the new farm act as passed last february the farmer who raises wheat will be eligible for a special payment crop incur ance and government loan privileges mr dodd said th these ese payments and privileges will come if the farmer does docs his part toward assuring a an adequate food supply and help to carry out the provisions of the 1938 program because prospects for a good N heat price this year are not particularly t ticul arly bright there will be a series of acreage allott ment set up under the new act mr dodd explained pl aimed these will be designed to limit the surplus and insure a good return to the wheat producer meetings in the series were held at nepal provo west jordan tre monton and logan and mr dodd was it a guest of the state conser abon committee by profession a farmer fanner mr air dodd has been influential in shaping the governments program for farm relief |
