| Show Monte Help For Needy The Monte Vista School had a very humble Prior to around 1958 the Davis County School District was using an old home which was located on the southeast corner of the Stoker School site with two teachers to take care of the mentally retarded children in the Davis THE DAVIS School District appropriated about and with the help of many parents and other interested people the very first phase of the present Monte Vista School was In this space there were four a small and an area to teach the girls but the Davis County was growing and the need for facilities for the mentally retarded children was continuing to grow with IN APRIL of 1963 the School District appropriated funds to add to this facility for increasing the shop space and adding a multi purpose room so the youngsters could receive some physical exercise for growth and Davis County School District continued to grow and the need for more facilities to take care of the mentally retarded grew- Now in June of 1972 we are beginning a large addition costing approximately which will be added onto the Monte Vista THIS new addition will provide for physical therapy for a complete Diagnostic Center to determine a learning disability and the prescription by which hs education can best ue carried on to suit Also rooms for the library and ers a special additional classrooms for the This will also give them more room so they can add more children to the THIS IS not all because the Davis School District intends to connect the new part of the Farm-ington Elementary School with the Monte Vista School which will then give them an additional multi purpose room and some more The old section of the Farmington Elementary School will be demolished and room made for further additions to Monte Vista ALONG in program a sheltered work shop area will need to be constructed in order to give some of these mentally retarded children a place to work and lead productive kj |
