Show News Notes from all A II 11 parts part s of rim A UTAH 04 how utah voted fo for r president coolidge davis la follette for governor mabey dern for justice of supreme court weber I 1 J for secretary of state crockett funk for attorney general cluff robinson for state auditor holden larson for state treasurer walker ririe for superintendent of public instruction jensen woodward Wp odward for congress first district colton 1 I francis for congress second district leatherwood waters totals from outside salt lake lahe coun ty and from districts out of in salt lake county george 11 dern will be the next governor of utah outside of the gubernatorial ernat orial contest the republican state and congressional tickets have been elected the county ticket in in salt lake county appears equally safe mabey visits dern governor mabey visited mr deri der in his office in the newhouse building and personally extended condrat ions on the victory and promised him whatever assistance anti and support he might require both in preparing to assume ass ume and after assuming the duties of executive of the state he tendered him the use of the machin ery of the governors office for ob whatever information he might require the rhe governor and his successor elect discussed the campaign and con granulated pach each other that it had been free from personalities and had been fought out on the issues subsequently governor mabey made public a brief statement outlining his attitude 1 I accept the verdict of the electorate he said with equanimity the people have spoke their choice and I 1 shall exert my full influence luence to make the next administration a complete success my hearty congratulations go forth to mr dern I 1 pledge my unqualified support to him in his new duties as chief executive also I 1 acknowledge my profound gratitude for the support I 1 received at the polls and thank my friends who gave me their vote and their iss ss istance in connection with my candidacy furthermore I 1 wish to commend the many party workers who worked unceasingly to elect the republican ticket later in the evening mr dern issued it 11 statement reading 1 I am keenly sensible of the dis to which my fellow citizens have raised me by electing me gover govar nor of my state 1 I want to thank the members of the democratic party who have div en me their united and unstinted support throughout the campaign my sincere thanks also go to the progressives Progress ives who first favored me with their unsolicited endorsement and then supported me as if I 1 had been their own nominee 1 I should be blind to the facts if I 1 did not see that thousands of republicans public ans voted for me I 1 am grateful to them for their conF confidence dence and good will 1 I am also very sorry that the remainder of our state ticket was not elected I 1 stated in every speech I 1 made that I 1 considered it the strongest ticket that has ever been nominated by a poli ical party in utah and I 1 feel that it Is unfortunate that all these good men were not elected because they were all exceptionally bell qualified to serve the state my own ambition is to further the development and up building of the th state of utah and the welfare of its ita people after all we should recognize that party lines do not mean much in our state problems these important subjects do not depend up on political labels but rather upon 2 patriotic desire to make utah the best state in the union I 1 solicit the support and assistance of all citizens to this end |
