Show conservation COMMITTEE I 1 CHECKS I 1 OEMS I 1 tho the soil conservation committee I 1 composed of 11 II ii adams chairman I 1 wm T robb kobb ot of paragonah Para gonah and roe palmer 0 of cedar city members have worked at the county agents office two days this week monday and tuesday in checking proof 1 at I compliance forms which have with few exceptions now been com pitted by supervisors arnold Y stevens and elwood corry A preliminary check of 0 the report ot of proof of compliance forms forma indicates that about one fourth ot of the farmers who tilled filled out work sheets intending to cooperate in the program have tailed failed to put into effect any of the recommended soil building practices in the program these farmers will therefore receive no benefit payments there will be approximately or cooperating farmers however the continued to page five conservation COMMITTEE CHECKS compliance FORMS continued from page four halt ot of september but feed made a good start during the months of july and august when there was ab normal precipitation mr andrews reported there has been a general movement of livestock from the high summer bummer ranges toward lower grazing areas as Is usual at this time ot of the year the feed has been good on the summer ranges and livestock are mostly in good condition with a considerable proportion of fat stock summer and fall all ranges in the northern part ot of the state are holding up well the livestock have considerable sid erable vitality and are in excellent condition to go into the winter in central utah prospects tor for the livestock estock industry are good to ex cx sellent with sheep and cattle show 1 allt I 9 good flesh winter ranges were reported very dry in the eastern part dart of the state but the recent rains probably relieved that condition private pastures have held up remarkably well A splendid prospective development of feed on the winter ranges of southern utah caused by the heavy supply of rainfall fall during july and august completes the optimistic outlook ifor for the state |
