Show PUBLIC INVITED TO DESERT STATION FIELD DAY those those who accept the invitation of the intermountain Intel mountain forest and range experiment station to attend the first field day problem of the desert branch station about 60 50 miles west of at milford Ml lford utah october 16 19 and 17 will see the gratifying results ot of applying co controlled nt rolled grazing to rehabilitation measures to desert range country according to R W bailey director visitors will assemble at milford on the morning of october 16 and at a m the caravan ot of cars will move toward the experimental area under the direction ot of selar S hutchings in charge of the branch station and dr george stewart senior ecologist in charge ot of range investigations tor for the station three or four our stops will be made to the station dr stewart said and the afternoon and the following morning will be spent in visiting the experiments an evening meeting Is scheduled tor for 8 p m on the opening day at which director william peterson ot at the utah state agricultural college will be th ha airman irman A more detailed explanation ot of the experiments at the bianch station will be presented and eminent range officials will lead discussions pertaining to present livestock problems director bailey announced the desert station was established in 1933 tor for the purpose of making a scientific analysis ot of depleted grazing areas of western utah and experimenting with various controlled practices of forage utilization now the acre tract I 1 Is partially enclosed iby by miles of fence and many plots are being used to determine the best methods of rehabilitating the plant cover of this area users of the range especially should be vitally interested in this field day program director bailey said eald in view of the heavy sheep losses light lamb crops and depleted plant cover on the desert country the remarkable comeback of that portion under supervision should command the careful consi de ration of all concerned |
