Show impressive services held I 1 for david matheson matheno n very impressive funeral services were held on friday afternoon of last week for david matheson aged and highly respected resident of this 1 is community who passed away early that week at the old matheson family home now occupied by his son inlaw in law and daughter mr and mrs joseph E ward the large number who attended the services taxed the west ward chapel to capacity w with th many out of town people in the assembled group the services which had been arranged entirely by the deceased before his passing were conducted by bissop scott day and commenced with the choir singing oh my father to the music written by thomas durham mettie D robinson accompanied compa nied this song and the choir was directed throughout by newell 13 weight joseph F holyoak offered the opening prayer after which the choir sang sometime well understand der stand this time accompanied by mary lyman former stake president wm R palmer palm r was the first speaker and he was followed by an instrumental trio the old refrain played by ivan decker and his daughters june and marion leonard evans was the next speaker and his talk was followed by a vocal solo then remember me by rula D orton with mrs lyman at the piano A son in law H L adams was the third speaker after which mary 0 sang oh dry those tears with marion decker at the piano and june decker playing the violin obligate bishop day was the final speaker and the choir sang lead me gently home as the clos ing song thomas K holyoak offered the benediction and at the cemetery the grave was dedicated by another son in law taylor miller there was of lul ful flowers and the pall bearers were five sons henry david A A bain kenneth and scott matheson and a son in law joseph E ward in last weeks issue we failed to mention one of his survivors his only brother albert C matheson mateson of salt lake city and he and his wife were here for the funeral service |
