Show military service honors cal dewey A I 1 combined military and church memorial services were held at paragonah Para gonah last sunday afternoon for cal dewey A of that community who died in france on june 24 from complications which followed pneumonia contracted during the time he was a prisoner of the germans members of american legion post no 20 with service men home on furlough at the present time were in charge of the the military portion of the services while bishop J L took charge of the church service in the ward chapel at 2 p in the color guard honorary ers firing squad and other legion alres aires marched ahead of the mourners to the chapel they presented and retired the colors there then preceded the procession to the cemetery where a plot of ground was dedicated to the dead soldier following military ceremonies the program at the church began with the choir singing 1 I need thee every hour with amasa stones direction and melva barton at the piano the opening was offered by K doyle robinson after which a male quartet from parowan carowan Pa rowan consisting of ray lyman clair rowley ivan decker and karl mitchell sang the lord is my shepherd with marion decker at the piano thomas A robinson of para gonah and john H pendleton of parowan carowan were the speakers with a brief history of the decease ds life being given by ruth boardman other musical numbers were a violin solo in the garden of tomorrow by silas with june decker at the piano and an instrumental number by ivan decker and his daughters marion and june loves old sweet song the bishop offered his closing remarks and I 1 the choir sang sometime well understand as the closing clos M g song samuel abbott offered the closing prayer and the plot of ground at the cemetery was dedicated dedic ted by T A |
