Show B A C director Is heart attack victim henry ernest ernes t 59 director of the branch agricultural college at cedar city for the past 15 years and the first principal of the parowan carowan high school died in his sleep at his home in cedar city early friday morning he left his office just before noon thursday and was ordered to bed by his physician where he rested comfortably that afternoon and evening and was apparently sleeping well when his wife retired that evening but when she went in to see him the next morning he had passed away apparently several hours before f ore funeral services for mr were held tuesday noon in the cedar first ward chapel with bishop lehi M jones of the cedar second ward conducting speakers were prof V D gardner dr N A and pres elmer G peterson all of the U S A C at logan resolutions of respect were read by G 0 larson of the L D S institute and music for the services was furnished by a womans comans trio the church college girls chorus and prof R L halverson rev robert geller offered the opening prayer and bishop H H lunt the closing one burial was at payson where brief graveside services were held under the direction of president D L sargent of the parowan carowan stake and the speakers were dr franklin S harris of provo and wm R palmer of cedar city the deceased was a native of payson and started his work in the educational cat ional and agricultural fields in 1908 at which time he taught in the provo city schools he taught at payson from 1912 to 1915 where he was head of the agricultural dept he completed his work for his bachelors degree in 1915 then came to parowan carowan to head the new high school and teach the agricultural department part ment after two years here he went to logan as assistant leader in boys and girls club work and from there he went to the USA C as a teacher during his stay at cedar city he has been an active member of the rotary club and has served as chair man of the iron county red cross chapter since 1938 he has also been active in other affairs in that city he is survived by his widow salome barney whom he married while teaching in parowan carowan Pa rowan one son victor curtis with the armed forces in the pacific and nine brothers and sister one of which frank was a teacher and coach here in 1917 18 and who Is now a lt in the U S navy |
