Show council reorganizes city library board the parowan carowan city library board was reorganized at the regular meeting of the city council last tues bues dy evening with the appointment of new members with mayor W scott mitchell as 2 year member and chairman the board which is to consist of six members divided as follows 2 two year members of which the mayor is to be one two 4 year members and two 6 year members islo is to have charge of the city library the other two year member named was owen davis 4 year members named were georgia B mitchell and jean hendrickson and 6 year members are venice docker decker and edna S hatch the council also spent some time considering a new power contract with paragonah Para gonah town to replace the one which has been in force for the past five year and which expired on february ath of this year under the old contract the power is sold to paragonah Para gonah town on a deal whereby that town reads the meters does the collecting and then remits half the money collected to parowan carowan city all meter readings are turned into the parowan carowan city treasurer for an audit of these slips showed that according to the power used and money remitted we are getting only 18 cents per kilowatt hour from paragonah Para gonah while at the same time w we e are buying power from the southern utah power co at the present time because of low water and paying that company 1 cents for it in other words we are selling power to paragonah Para gonah cheaper than we can get it from the power company which we have to do during the winter months it was to call a special meeting for saturday night to consider a 2 new contract with paragonah Para gonah town officials invited to be present attorney A M marsden met with the council on behalf of alban dobrusky asking that the city give instruct its to return water to the dobrusky lot in paro wan city which was sold off from it by the former owner the request was made on dihe grounds that the water right is vested in the city and is not the property owners to trade around the matter was referred to the city attorney the need for some sort of equipment was discussed at some length with members of the council feeling that something 0 heavy enough to do a job in caring for our city streets should be procured if possible councilman miller reported that he was making a trip into salt lake city in the near future and he was instructed ins to look out for some equipment quip ment that might be available the council approved the action of the mayor in in renting rooms on the second mor floor of the city building to A M morris for a law office |
